My passenger side door handle broke..
I finally stopped being lazy..
Take the door apart.. (really Easy)
Take apart the door handle assembly..(easy, just screws)
Get some JBweld (hardening Poxy)
Fill in where the break is. ( I added alot. as if I was
extending the door handle up to the window swtch)
Put back together walla.. DONE..

Yes, I have fixed mine, it is not that bad to do. I even have a spare now, just in case it breaks to the point of no fixing.
The new replacement is expensive, about $400 if I remember correctly, so it is worth it to try and fix it yourself first. JB Weld works ok, I fiberglassed in some metal supports in mine the last time I fixed it.
The key to longevity is to simply remember.....DON'T USE THE HANDLE, USE THE ARMREST! And tell every passenger........

I just fixed my handle and my compartment door lid. I used the JB quick weld and so far so good. I used the directions from: www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/hand_grip.htm . It gives you detailed intructions. I even added little pieces of pliable metal and covered it with a lot of JB. Just don't use too much because you may have trouble putting in the power window switch. I was very lucky and barely got it in. For the door compartment, I sanded down the felt and added metal strips to the bottom of the lid. To secure the door, I unsrewed the metal mechanism that acts as the sping and threw it away. I didn't see the use of it and that was the reason my door broke. I then filled the hole from the little pin with JB (my pin fell out), and just got a little screw and screwed the lid to the compartment, which replaced the little pin. It works great now and easily opens and closes. Nobody sees the bottom anyways
