Paint appearance fix?

Can anybody tell me what I need to do to get my paint back in good shape? Actually the paint is fine but the clear coat looks like ***. Lots of swirls, it is getting so bad I don't even feel like driving my car sometimes.

Do I need to do a good multi step buff/polish/wax job?

One guy told me I need a wet sand and refinish.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Greg

I had this problem on my FD and after working my as... off and getting so so results I ended up taking it to a professional detailer. What a difference ! I tried the clay, polish, wax thing but the results were nowhere close to what the detailer's did with it. There was a thread from someone in Cali with pics so you might try a search. Hope it helps.

I did have a detailer do a bunch of work and it did look great afterwards but a couple months later, lot's of car washer later, it looks the same again.

I would have a detailer do it again but it is so expensive and I am strapped for cash at the moment.

black is just hard to keep from swirling. I know how keep it mint looking but too much. You need the right buffers and polisher/ pads/foams and abrasive materials. It requires alot of hand polishing to get it right.
