Opinion on how I'm running my speakers/stereo
Well I have a double din dvd player and thought of a quasi ingenious/although completely obvious way to get the headrest speakers to run.
Because my system has front, center, and rear setup I am going to run it as follows
1. Tweaters, under dash speakers, and door speakers off the front
2. 6 x 9 speakers behind the convertible seats as rears
3. Headrests as center
You all may think im a bit crazy ... but due to the fact that the stock volume controls for the headrests are pretty much inoperable regardless now ... I am just going to set the fader/sq level/output a bit lower then the front/back (so i dont blow my ears out) and hook the headrest speakers up directly to the headunit.
opinions?
i really really want to keep the stock controls. but i see no way to do it, nor do the people finishing up my car.

well, i take it you have a vert considering the headrest (less its a custom job?). but, never mount tweeters facing down, it lowers the sound stage and makes it sound muddy, mount the tweeters in the pillars if you have some plastic epoxy and some time to kill. with the sound, i have 6 1/2's in my doors (s5 coupe), 6 1/2's in the rear speaker thingys. with a vert, mount a sub behind one seat, an amp/whatever else behind the other seat. 6 1/2 in the doors (it sounds great, just get that MDF). with the headrests, i can't really help you, all i can say is if you can take them apart and swap them for aftermarket (polks/sony/pioneer). with the headunit, get rid of it, i tried running the stock one in my car, its a waste of time to try to match up aftermarket speakers with stock unit. get a headunit (mines an alpine CDA-9856 which is off the hook) that supports multiple speakers and an amp. youll get SOOOOOOOOO much better, clearer, more tuned sound.
my system ran (with everything including wires) about 1G.
good luck man
peace

I'd say run the tweeters and door speakers. forget the under dash speakers, they'll throw off your imaging. forget the 6x9's, you dont need rear fill. run the headrests off the rear output. make sure you watch the impedance of the speakers in there. I dont knwo what they are but you dont want to dip bellow 4ohms on a deck amp.
just what I'd do.
just what I'd do.
