I have the same problem, just bought gauges that were supposed to come with instructions and did not. Do a search for install gauges, it takes awhile but I found some useful info. Not enough for me to start tearing stuff apart, but I'm still looking.

^^ pretty much the same thing sheistermeister said...

1) remove the gauge cluster from the dash
2) remove the plastic from around it
3a) remove the old gauges and put the new ones one
3b) if theyre ebay ones: you prob have to put the the gauges over the old ones (BE CAREFUL OF THE NEEDLES WHEN DOING THIS!!!!!)
4) get a FD wiring guide (someone one this forum HAS to have one) and find out which is the gauge illumination wire and tap into it (not sure if the FD is the same as most other aftermarket gauge overlays or whatever you bought)
5) test to make sure it all works
6) reinstall

Just tap into the cig. lighter ring illumination bulb... that's hooked to the relay that controlls illumination, or if you have a seperate ****, tap into the cig lighter...

Thanks, I have found alot on removing and installing gauge cluster, but the wiring part is what I'm having a hard time finding anything on. I just bought this car two weeks ago, and unlike the last rx7 I owned, this one doesn't have electrical problems and I don't want to create any.

Then run a seperate Lead from the fuse box, below the dash, to wherever and put a fuse on it 5-10 amp if you want to be safe...
I used the Sunroof motor (fuse holder) , since I don't have a sunroof
And the Sunroof motor would be switched (not on when the key is removed) which is what you want for most things anyhow

Thanks for the help, got my gauge faces in, installed blue led lights in cluster and everything works great. Install was simple and would have been complete in a few hours if my kids didn't smash the clear plastic that goes over instruments. Luckily I found a cheap one on ebay to replace, but slowed me down by a week.
