Unhappy Need Help Finding Non Universal Shift **** (Threaded) for FD3

I have been looking around, hours at a time to find a shift **** that is treaded (i.e Just Screws in and does not use those universal joints/screws) I want a decent looking **** for under $100.00. I prefer one that does not look like the stock one. I checked out the major rx-7 stores and all do a poor job of listing shift *****. Its not a high priority in sales I guess (Small Margin for the stores) Anyhow I really liked the GReddy one but its Back Ordered every where I checked.

1) Does Razo make any that just screw in?

2) I also liked one of the Mazdaspeed ones where is the best place to purchase Mazda Speed Parts?

Lets see I don't want the R-8 because its 6 speed on it.
Civic Type R is ok, I wonder if I can find a replica in gunmetal or black

chillin_rx7_guy thanks for the offer on the shift **** but I am trying to steer away from leather. I want sothing that is metal or titanium and counter weighted

So the treading is 10 x 1.25 then? and the same as Honda, that may make things easier

Hands down, the Greddy is the way to go. Didn't know they were that hard to find!

Razo shift ***** are also top-notch. They come with a number of plastic inserts - you pick the one that fits your shift lever, then lock it into the shift **** (there are different ways they go in depending on the ****). Put the **** on the lever, and you screw it in - the threads on the shift lever cut threads into the plastic insert as you screw it on. Turns out VERY secure, doesn't rattle or anything, and comes off easily. I've had a few of them, and other local guys have had them too, they're all of excellent quality.

I think our local import shop here had some Greddy ***** in stock last time I was there, but that was a while back. Call 'em up - 850-484-8511, V&T Performance. You need the shift **** for a Mazda.

BTW, just checked - Greddy has it in their online store, says it ships in 1-2 days. Price is $40, which isn't too terrible - they don't have a lot of markup in that sucker, mid-$30's is about as cheap as it gets.

I've got one of those new Greddy ***** in my 10th Anniversary, and it's gorgeous. Comes with different colored shift pattern stickers so you can pick your color and stick it on with the **** screwed in fully, guaranteeing the pattern will be straight.

I have an '89-91 shift lever in my car, and with the **** on it sat kind of high. I hacksawed off about 1" of the lever and tapped threads farther down on the lever so it would screw in to the height I wanted. Dunno if you'd have to modify the FD's shift lever, but I do know the 3rd gen and '89-91 shift lever are very similar.

Good luck,
Dale

Yep, that's the one. I'd just get it straight from Greddy and be done with it.

The Greddy **** is about the size of a golf ball. It's sized well, and it's heavy.

"Sore thumb"?

I've never had a problem with my Razo shift ****. I love it. It's weighted and really makes a difference with my short shifter.

What's wrong with the universal *****?
I've had my Momo installed for 5 years, used it up through 50k miles including racing, and never had a problem with it.
