need help with dvd player installation

need help with dvd player installation

Hey guys, I am trying to install my Dual brand dvd head unit. Everything looks hooked up ok, but when I press the brake pedal, power seems to cut off to the head unit. Any ideas what might be happening?

how did you ground it? you dont actually have to ground it to the brake lever. just ground it out like you would usually, BOOM, dvd all the time. and it sounds like to me that your 12+ and ACC wires arent correct. check the voltage with a voltage meter.

Interesting. I bought an FD a few weeks ago that has a Kenwood DVD player in it. It was doing exactly the same thing. I haven't found out why. Since then it also sounds like the right door speaker is blown or I have a bad connection or something.

It does that on purpose. You have to bypass it. I don't know how but that happens on almost all DVD players as a precaution so that you don't drive and watch DVDs. Google ways to bypass it.

Player cutting out

If either of you guys are still having issues with the players power cutting out let me know. The wireing is most likely off a bit. I can send you the wiring colors if you want when I get back home. A bad ground is most likely the result, since the groun wire for the FD and almost all mazda's is NOT in the harness. Its its own wire. If you did not connect it to the correct ground, then it tries to ground through the antenna. You can test that by seeing if the unit turns on with the antenna unplugged.

There's nothing wrong with the way you wired up the unit. As a couple of the guys stated, the ground hooked to brake is a safety feature and can be bypassed.

If the unit is Powering Off completely, then it is not the standard "can not watch while driving" bypass. No units safety feature is to turn the unit completely off when you hit the brake. If the unit is still on but not showing video then yes it is the bypass, however if power is completely shutting down, which is what I believe is being stated, then it is the wiring.

yeah, this thing is powering off completely. I know what you guys mean about the grounding and bypassing the ground to the side brake, but when I press the foot brake, that is when the power cuts off to the dvd player

If you take a clear pic of the wireing that you have done in the car I can most likely tell you were your issue is.
