My DIY hood vents

I contemplated a carbon fiber hood or just cutting into my stock hood. If it turned out, I saved some money. If it didn't, well I still have plan B so I just went for it. I am pretty impressed on how well it turned out. It took me about 3 hours, so not to bad at all. Now I am contemplating doing it to both sides of the hood. Thoughts and opinions?

I like these kinds of experiments. Experiments without fear! This isn't a bad idea. Keep going to keep the look symmetrical. Now you just have to find some nice mesh for the holes.

Yeah I wanted something a bit unique. Scoot and Re Amemiya hoods are played out in my opinion. I suppose I will start cutting vents on the other side next week. For mesh, I found perforated sheets to fill in the holes.

For the rotary guys, just the passenger side might look cool.

For someone like myself, it makes more sense to have both sides done. I plan on filling the openings with some sort of louver design to make the vents as efficient as possible.

not bad, looks pretty good. What did you use to cut the holes?

I used a cut off wheel to get the lines some what straight, a carbid bit an dremel to shape the edges, and a file for touch up. The lines aren't perfect but its hard to tell because of some of the angles on the hood.

Turbodrx7, I agree with just doing one side for rotaru guys. I am also considering leaving just the one side done for turbo cooling and also want to try and integrate something for v mount. I just need to find out roughly where I need to cut. Hard to do that though when you don't have v mount or a motor in the car lol.

Edit: pics included below of mid project. I cut straight lines and then shaped.
