Mounting an apexi avc-r

Where did you all mount yours. I have been thinking about if for some time now but I'm not sure where I would like it best. Any suggestions?

I am a firm believer that these needn't be in the center of the dash, they only really matter to the driver anyways. I would say to the left of the wheel mounted right on the dash. Just drill a little hole in the dash to feed the cord through since I think its just not clean looking with the cord dangling around. If you wanted to be really fancy you use 3m tape on the back (the super adhesive kind), and then put a dash kit on it with a cut out in it that matches the size and shape of the AVC-r, then it looks less stuck on the dash, and more integrated. I'm thinking of this for my FD depending on the gauge situation in the FD I get.

Why are you selling the spyder? My dad has one and I love it!! It is a much better daily driver than the 7. You will love the FD to no end though, good luck.

Strike:

I had great luck mounting mine in a stock R1/R2 under radio map pocket. You know, the little flip-down console that fits below a non-Bose radio??

You will haev to cut a slot both on the top and bottom, then also dremmel out a little bit on the inner righ-side for the AVC-R face and cord to sit properly. Once done properly, though, it fits perfectly, and very snugly.

What I really loved about having it under my radio, is:

1) map pocket flips up when you don't want to see the screen or you are leaving the car, which is also a nice safety feature.

2) you can tune it on the fly without having to contort yourself or reach all the way over to your glovebox.

3) the wow factor when you open it at night for an unsuspecting passanger who thinks that computer came from the factory!!

4) mounted out of the way, so visibility of the road or other parts of the cabin aren't affected.

Regards,
shawn

Shawn,
Can you do a write up on how you did this? I was seriously considering the exact same thing once I realized the size of it. Any info. would be great. Thanks.

I used double sided tape and the included bracket and mounted it to the windsheild just to the right of the rear view mirror. You can see it in one of the pics here.
