Mazdaspeed Rear Diffuser

Does anyone have anymore pics/info on the Mazdaspeed rear diffuser. I'm trying to figure out from my few pics, about the design and how it is mounted. Is it made out of Carbon?

Can someone explain to me what the hell this thing is for??? I don't get it at all. I think it looks cool but can think of no reason you would need one. Unless maybe you were pulling a Racing Beat Bonneville Salt flat trick. So whats the deal? Any one care to explain this one to my dumbass???

Any air exiting out of the back of a car usually creates a turbulance which can slow the car down. The purpose of such devices is to allow the air to contonully to smoothly flow away from the car and exit the back in a straight path.

I think a diffuser looks a heck of a lot better than a giant wing, and they both serve to create downforce. Basically like Flybye said, the diffuser smooths out the airflow exiting the beneath the car, speeding it up. If you remember science class, pressure is proportional to the difference in air velocity between the top and bottom of the car, with lower pressure corresponding to higher velocities, so speed up air under the car and it will create more downforce, or in the case of lift, reduce lift.

IMHO, the MS rear diffuser doesn't look nearly as functional as the RE Amemiya rear diffuser. I know Chuck is working on one (rotaryextreme) and I can only hope that it's his own version :-) of the RE rear diffuser. It also looks like the MS diffuser needs to be mounted to the R-spec rear end fascia to work.

I want to get the one by RE, but my driveway kind of sucks and thats a pricey piece of gear to be fruckin up....

But yes FLYBYE and NATHAN KWOK are correct.... I just want it for the highspeeds, so I dont have to worry so much about going to a flight haha...

Does the Mazdaspeed one just bolt on to the stock rear bumper? Looks like it...

The one on the blue car looks like it replaces the rear bumper skin... ?

I was sporting wood for the old style RE Amemiya, but the Mazdaspeed looks sweet.

Cheers,

Steve

The R-Magic one looked OK, from what I could tell in these pics:

I emailed a few places, but no one could get me any better pics.
