Lowest seat possible for FC??

Hello all, As you can see I am new to this forum as well as the RX-7. I recently purchased a 1987 GXL and I need a lower seat for it so I can fit with a helmet. I searched and searched on here and found nothing. I am 6'-6" and 220#.

Please if anyone has found the lowest seat possible please let me know! I would LIKE to get about 4" lower than the stock seat does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks in advanced!

Wes

anything basic with side mount rails should do the trick.. with side mount rails, you can modify them untill the seat is basically sitting on the ground.

The FC is known for having high seat position in both stock, and aftermarket form. The general consensus is you will need to fabricate a rail on your own to get the lowest possible seating position. Your readily available solutions such as Bride, which is what I personally have, are setup with clearance between the floor beam and rail. If you can go with a stationary bracket as opposed to a slider, it's definitely easier and cheaper to accomplish what you want.

You should've bought a convertible.

Hello all, sorry for the delay. I ended up getting a el chepo summit racinge seat that I was going to mount directly to the floor..... However even if I literally bolted it to the floor with NO mounts I still would hit my head on the roof... Being 6'-5" is a PITA with small cars.

Now my solution: I did a "Delete" kit on the sunroof. I am now using the OEM seats and mounting just as they were and have TONS more head room WITHOUT a helmet. Now when I have a helmet on I have to lay the seat back a Lil more than I'd like but beggers arnt choosers so I will take what I can get.

Essentially I gutted the the entire sun roof assembly minus the actual panel which I have currently just siliconed until I determine if I will weld it in place or not.

I will try to get Pics when I have time.

79-80 high back seats sit pretty low.
