Mazdaspeeds are a nasty tight fit to get in the FD... but they do fit, and recline (slowly with the cog gear), and hold you nicely.

Which Recaro (Red) will look best in the FD3S besides the Type R version?

Too bad the recaro pole position won't fit without heavy modification. I am thinking the bride zeta III in red.

Pics of my new corbeau forzas. The passenger seat is on the rails they sent me but the drivers seat needs to be fixed mounted as there isn't enough headroom for me.

I am trying to fit a Recaro SPG into the passenger side of my USDM FD3s. Anyone know where I can get sliders and brackets that will fit?

I guess thats depends on what you mean by "heavy modification"
I retrofitted the stock sliders to work with my pole positions and the fit perfect (well 99%, the right side of my seat touches the trans tunnel cover a little bit, but thats because i sit REALLY close to the front.. about the 3rd notch to all the way forward..... lol)

My rails/sliders: https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread.../#post11052419

And i was going to post a pic of my seats but then i realized..... i dont even have one

Talk to PREW on here. he went through a bunch of seat rails/slides before he found the right match. but they do touch the door panels ever so slightly IIRC.

Or you can run our door panels and they wont touch at all

Always the option of the Bride Low max rails and Bride Vios III's This combo will work with the stock door panels, so you don't lose the side defrost vents, and mirror adjustment switch. As long as your waist size is smaller than 33 you'll fit comfortably.

^^Awesome track seats, now that my waist is down to a 33 I should fit much better. I have a vivid memory of riding shotgun with Yung D and hearing a 'crack' when I lowered into the bucket. Whether it was the seat bucket or my hip bone is anyone's guess

Thumbs up

Check my build thread for more info, but just picked up my latest (and final I hope) seat setup for my BB '95 street FD from the boys at ESH.

Not exactly, um, aftermarket, but I can tell ya that Recaro fits the FD like a glove!

It's eye candy you're looking for eh?

There's a lot of fixed back seats in this thread without roll bars, no one is concerned of the danger or the What if?

The concern of a rollover in a fixed back seat. Are we assuming its ok to use them with stock seat belts? Am I just being too paranoid?

Are the RZ/Spirit-R seats not fixed back? If they are, mazda thought it was ok.

Just don't wear seat belts and leave the windows down so you are safely ejected in case of a roll over.

Seriously, there are several production cars with fixed seats, some with no roof.

Off the top of my head-
Lotus Exige/Elise
Porsche 911 GT3
Mclaren P1

I see this more as a problem when you are tracking and there is a relatively high probability of roll-over from gravel traps. A helmet and roll bar would be a good idea on the track.

My Vios III Japan on Lowmax rails

And this is how short leg fat boys like me get in.

Takata (Schroth) DOT 4 point harnesses with a tear-away section so they function as 3 point seat belts. They also adjust loose/tight quickly and look cool.

The only good thing about short legs is when I get a roll bar it will be far from my head (note my driving position in pic 1), so I won't be so spooked to drive the streets with no helmet on.
