No it's not Turbo'd
Oh my God, that has to be the worst video ever... for a prduct... the guy grabs the door and shuts it at the end... by hand ! The marketing guy should get SHOT !
The dammed thing moves out as much as I need to get out of my FD, so why do I need it to go up... This was supposed to prevent me from worrying about how far I could open my door, not worry more about how far the computer opens it and weather I'm too close or not...
My Vote...
Worst Product EVER !!!

Blow up or win
From the Vertical Doors.com site:
" A neatly balance combination of form a function providing you with a true exotic look.
Made of titanium (yeah, right), stainless steel and alluminum (with two l's?), with a powerful shock to withold the exotic look".
NICE.
Jesus H. Christ, if these guys can't even write a complete paragraph that makes any ******* sense do you think they can making scissor doors that will actually work well? I can't wait to see the TITANIUM parts!
ROTFLMAO!

A local shop down here in Florida has done a few Hondas with the vertical doors. I'm assuming they got them from Car Excess which is also in Florida. Anyway...the Accord that I looked at closely has VERY heavy doors compared to the FD. The mechanism worked well but there was some side to side motion with the door fully extended (and you pushed on the door). I believe they were planning to add another "shock" and bracket to stiffen it a bit. I dunno, it's certainly a bit cheaper than an RE-A conversion!

i emailed carexcess today, and they said that they have not yet made a kit for our cars. they said custom installations run about $2500 but they would have to see the car first. I personally don't think they've ever glanced at a FD. My interest is pretty much gone.

The Autoloc kit is OK if you don't mind waiting 5 minutes for your door to open...
Good lord that was an awful video!

just a few comments...
first, im def. not associated w/ decah (the company that actually makes the VDC kit that carexcess.com sells) or any other company...
but i do happen to have a lot of experience (relatively) w/ these doors, primarily cuz i know a cpl ppl who got 'em done, a shop that's installed DOZENS of 'em, etc.
the decah doors r IMHO the ONLY ones id go w/ cuz they're high quality, wont rust, and are a perfect match for your door (some minor rolling of the fender is required, contrary to wut they'll tell u). it really is completely bolt on. and cuz of that, u can actually go back to your original door hinges if you want...so it's not permanant in that sense.
decah makes VDC kits ONLY for civics (and i think accords). carexcess.com buys 'em wholesale i guess, and then custom modifies EACH KIT by hand for each car (literally..they only have 6 guys there workin on only door kits).
like evot23 said, they do need a model car to use as a guinea pig. that's the only reason the doors haven't come out, cuz they guy w/ the FD they were gonna use isn't gonna show up till this coming week (after labor day).
the modification carexcess does consists of ensuring the hinge lines up perfectly w/ the original holes and bolts in your door...and they throw in a template for exactly where and how far to roll the fenders. they also paint everything your car's color so it looks stock (yea i know, VDC stock? lol but u wouldn't BELIEVE how many ppl came up to me and my friend in his celica w/ the doors and asked if "the car came like that..." .. not 2 brite...)
my friend's celica has the VDC kit on it, and it looks HOT. but IMHO it's gonna look better on his car than about 90% of other cars cuz new celicas dont have a door frame around the windows... that adds to the asthetics (my personal taste)
once they get the FD kit made, it will sell like hotcakes. i spoke w/ carexcess, and they already have a rack of PRE-ORDERS on the FDs...so yea it's not gonna b just one guy gettin it
as for the doors, there's a guy w/ a mustang who has this kit, and his doors are bout 150lbs if im not mistaken (that's wut he told me). that's much heavier than ours.
the doors do open about 6 inches outward, but that's counting from the closed position...so minus an inch or so of the chassis/frame, there's only a space of about 4.5 inches (my best guess) between the door and chassis when pushed out at most (you can't push it out anymore)
the doors then simply swing up (you actually can push 'em up w/ one hand...although u gotta b careful how u do it, or ull mess up the bolt.
this is important and good cuz that way the door still closes in the same manner as stock (you gotta pull it inward toward the car). and yea... it obviously lines up perfectly since the actual closing and locking mechanism is left untouched (so you dont hafta worry bout the door not lining up, or havin ur FD turn into a swimming pool durin the rain hehe).
the RE car isn't really functional. it is motorized, and i believe it's ONLY motorized. it would b real hot if you can get an actuator that lets u open it motorized when u WANT, and manually when u want (im sure some of u have that kinda dough, and may b willin 2 be the first and get it done)
i on the other hand think ownin an FD has emptied my wallet one 2 many times as it is lol
i know this was a long post, but i hope it helped some.
dont b discouraged just cuz carexcess hasn't seen an FD yet. they spend a lotta time on it cuz they mass produce the kits from that point on. lots of guys w/ celicas have 'em now..and no one has ANY complaints (my friend had the SAME concern, and waited till guys on the celica forum got 'em, and raved bout 'em. now he's got 'em, and we both love 'em)
and as last comments...if u generate enough interest (in carexcess' opinion) for a kit for your car (like the FC), they'll go ahead and do it, and if ur the gineau pig, u get it for free. one of my friends is actually the guinea pig for the kit on his NSX...
and a word to the wise. yes, this kit is completely bolt on. but NO this is not as simple as it seems. the 2 hrs installation is the actual time just for the kit install..ie it doesn't factor time of takin off the front fender (which prob means u gotta take of the front bumper) and puttin it back on, and rollin the fenders, etc. so point is, call around, and find a shop who's done a LOT of these be4. you'll save HUNDEREDS of $$$ at a place that knows 'em well, and can have u in and out in under 5 hrs...vs a auto body shop with little, no, or even worse horrible experience w/ those old $7K kits that came out a few yrs ago..cuz that way, you may very well end up payin more for the install than for the kit itself...
(if u want the name of a shop that can install it easy in the DC/VA/MD area ... lemme know)

I am looking for a volanteer to bring in your 1993 - 1997 Mazda RX7 so I can finish creating the lambo doors for that vehicle. The car must be a car that has not been in an accident.
Check out my site. http://www.carexcess.com/vdc
I am offering this kit at $800 off normal installed price.
This modification will cost the volunteer $1500 and will look just like the picture http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/retuden/...dy/greddy5.jpg
Normal retail price $1900 and installation will be $300 - $400.
More information is available at http://www.carexcess.com/vdc/
Please call me at 727-585-7878

I'm sorry but as much as I am a proponent of Florida Busninesses, if you're making a show car, and think this will put you over the top you'll spring for the RE-Amemiya ones, and if you're not doing car shows... why bother !? Is your FD gonna attrackt more attention just cause the doors !? Doubfull, people either like and know the FD or they don't....
IMHO....
Plus Try and get out of that
<<------- with lambo doors, if the windows were shut and the batteries got disconnected I'd have been screwed with Lambo doors.... LOL....
Something to think about !

Well, I initally thought that it was pretty cool.. until the video.. man.. I just watched "carexcess" videos and I don't think I like them.. Please thats just my opinion..
I think its just the fact that you have to open like regular doors and then push up.. I was hoping like the whole door will pull out and then go up....

How long will you have to have the car?
