Keyless entry in non p/l fc

Can an alarm be installed in my TII that will unlock the doors even though it doesn't have power locks? I would like to have keyless entry and remote start on it. Thanks.

you would have to install power locks.. it is easy enough, and cheap enough, to do..

i was planing on doing that to my sa here fairly soon.

Keyless entry shouldn't be too bad, but good luck finding a remote start that will work with a manual tranny. I've yet to see one.

Oh I have no problem finding that. My friend has one installed on his car. Come to think of it I think he had his car made to power locks too. Hmmm...

My FC has power locks installed.. NZ$100 (<$US50) for installation + motors in both doors when i got my alarm installed.

Makes life easier since my car got stolen (I got it back, luckily) and the ignition all messed up so at least i don't have to use 2 different keys to operate the car.

Power door lock actuator's should run about $10 to $20. They're easy to install yourself.

Pretty much any alarm with remote start will work on a manual transmission. But good luck finding a shop that'll install it for you. I'd recommend a compustar alarm to compliment the keyless entry. You gotta love the colour LCD 2way remote

NO NO NO NO.

Not any alarm can be used. Only a remote start that has a nuetral safety switch input on it can be used.

The FB and FC both have the nuetral safety switchs on the tranny. These can be hooked up to a remote start that has the input for it (like the DEI remote starts). This will sense if the car is in gear or not and won't start unless it is in the nuetral position.

If you put a remote start in and do not use that switch input or the remote start does not have that input, it is just a matter of time before the car starts and kills someone or does way too much property damage.

It sounds like a DEI 552T remote start is what you would want, as it also has keyless entry, and an additional output that could be used for trunk pop.

My friend had a place put one on his, thing is I think he had to sign something saying that the shop is not responsible if soemthing happens (ie: leaves car in gear and remote starts it, car runs into someone/thing.). Alot of places just don't like to do it I've heard.

When I worked for shops you could not pay enough for any shop that I knew of to put a remote start on a manual tranny car. It was also a fireable offense at many of the bigger chain stores like circuit city, best buy, good guys, etc.

You more than likely will have to put it in yourself.

leaves car in gear and remote starts it, car runs into someone/thing
but again installed correctly with a DEI remote start and the car can not start in gear. The remote start just won't even work if you left it in gear.
