Interior / Exterior / Audio Talk about interior and exterior mods including audio.

I've concluded that FD's simply are not designed w/ acoustics in mind...

Phil, I'm sorry to hear about your car. But c'mon...you should know better. If it's not one thing, it's another...ALWAYS hehe.

I'm sure I can get some incredible sound if I tore up the door panels, put a midbass speaker higher up so it's not under my feet lol...widened the center speaker a lot, put 2 more speakers in the trunk, maybe 2 more somewhere else between the front doors and the rear speakers... But the point is...do I want to do that? Hell no. You should see how badly I'm freaking out about this TINY cut I have in the dash...OMG I'm going ballistic....

Ok maybe I'm a little slow lol...his name is Don. Your name was?? (sorry...ask Phil how bad I am w/ names).

Oh and thanks for the offer. My prob isn't getting the motor. It's paying for the CRUCIAL work. Lets see... $6k for a tranny, $1K for an IC, another $2K for fabbing misc parts, a couple grand for porting the engine, some more for turbo work, add in the labor... it's just waayyy out of my range at this point

You know why? Because the FD is a sports car. To me it's the car you play the radio/CD stereo the LEAST because it sounds/acts so damn awesome.

But that's just me...

On a more serious note, you'd think the acoustic issue could be easier to solve given the small cabin space, not much room for sound waves to be lost other than to you..?

I see what you're saying...but sometimes I'm not out to blow past ppl...just cruising..enjoying the fresh air, listening to the tunes.

As for the sound waves, we need Rynberg to chime in. I'm almost sure his field has to do w/ acoustics... I dunno if I pulled this outta my a$$ lol...but I think sound waves need a certain distance to "mature" so to speak...which is why you need a sub box to be a certain size...or say the bose base tube to be that long...

So it *might* be that we actually don't have enough space in our small cabin for perfect sound...??

My comment had nothing to do about "blowing past" other people.

In fact, I don't think I will be street racing my FD much at all. Only Track/AutoX.

But yea, I hear ya
