Interior Swap Tan -> Black
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone wants to do a complete interior swap with me. I currently own a MB 3rd Gen with Tan interior, and was hoping someone might want to swap all their black panels for my Tan panels. The condition of my tan panels are in top condition, and if you need pictures I will try to take some and send them to you. If your interested please e-mail me at Kaod@uci.edu . Or if you have any suggestions as to how I can go about swaping my interior without complete swap with someone else please help me out and post something. Thanks all in advance.

yeah. no ****.
ii converted my car to black....from tan. however, i lucked out. when i bought my 2nd fd, the guy, for some unknown reason, had a set of black door panels in the garage...then, b/c i wanted the black, i bought some of the interior stuff. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. just in case you have not checked in lately, the cubby/storage bin behind the seats it almost 500.00 alone.....i bought that and the kick panels and the door sills. now it is time for the 3 remaining cabin pieces.......saving now.....nothing beats new. trust me. i have purchased off of eBay, and the panels looked like krapp......

You guys know that if you paint them with vinyle paint that nobody will ever know it wasn't black from the factory, right? The stuff is designed for vinyle and fabric. I did my carpet last week. You cant tell. It makes the carpet slightly more stiff, barely noticable. The steps to paint the doors are as follows
1) make sure its atleast 70 degrees, the warmer the better.
2) take the door panels off the car.
3) use denatured alcolhol or something to clean the panels
4) make sure all dust is off the panels.
5) shake the can, hold 8 inches away and paint the panels.
6) make sure you spray even, steady.
7) do a 2nd coat.
It takes less than 5 minutes to dry to the touch. After a day or so it dries very hard (but flexible). It will not peel off in hot sun or if you scrape you shoe against the vinyle. The cost is 4.99 per can. You can pick of at autozone or any auto parts store. It takes about 1 or 1.5 cans per door, 3 cans for the floor.

I don't take advice from a guy whose idea of a mod is a MP3 player. Your car will look like **** in 2-3 years when your shitty paint job starts lifting and whatnot. You'll wish you didn't do that ghetto *** **** to your car. Buy or swap the parts. Otherwise your better off just laeving it be.

My car does not look "Getto" it looks BETTER than OEM. its not going to "peel" in 3 years, I doubt it. If it does I will strip it all off and redo it. If I get 3 years out of it , its much better than spending 1000's of dollars on interior parts when painting them will look better anyway.
I simply gave my suggestion to someone that looked like he needed help. You have no basis for what you said and you personally attacked me in the process. Grow up punk.

I am intitled to my opinion. I'm sorry but to me painted panels are shitty. When I grew up in the eighties (yea Im a punk)My father ran a custom auto shop in South Texas for 15 years. I've seen just about everything you can imagine. I'm telling you that **** is going to peel. You don't have to believe me. I don't care what you do to your car. I was trying to help you out. I agree I was little harsh but my point is valid.Sorry to **** you off.
No need to get all shitty with me and start name calling though. Christ this is the interior/exterior area All opinions should be welcome.
Even if you don't like them.

Edit: BTW, the black paint that is on the hard plastic panels is just that, paint, I don't see why with the right product and process it can't be matched in quality. There are good plastic primers that work on hard abs plastics, bulldog bft comes to mind. I don't see why the right paint would'nt stick to that.
But I'm sure your dad tried everything before deciding nothing worked

Your opinion is welcome. I am glad you pointed out that maybe sometime they will peel. My neighbor did his corvette 7 years ago and it has not peeled. Maybe it will, and like I said I will redo it if it does. But for starters, I take great care of my car. You will never look at my car and think it looks getto. It would be gettto if it peels and I leave it like that. I should point out my doors are black to begin with. I ordered new black seats from leatherseats.com.
Next, you got personal by saying the MP3 comment and the "getto" paint job. Its not getto. So your welome to your opinion, but DONT ever call me or my car getto, cause its not. My neighbors 74 vette was baby blue before he painted it black, and it looks real good now. This is an option thats all I said.
And yes I was OneKrazyGuy, I hate that s/n so I changed it. Just don't get personal with me and I will not get personal with u.
Remember, nobody ever said "I wanna be like FD3boost when I grow up"

i dont see what the big deal is really, seems like he was thorough in his painting process, so i doubt it will peel for a long time, and even if it ever did, its still a helluva lot cheaper to repaint than buy the oem parts from mazda.
people these days with their attitudes...
