I'm sure the OP won't know the type of treatment
But my guess is that this is it.

Acrylic powders have a very nice clear coat, but they are tricky to shoot, and don't play nice with other powders.

^^Just from the description in that link, it wouldn't seem to make sense. Remember the part I had coated was *METAL* not Aluminum so I'm not sure the above product would even work?!?

Last I checked aluminum is actually considered a *metal*
In addition the pictures on the link show non aluminum parts after coating
Just a FYI on powdercoating:
Powder will coat any metal that can take a static charge, and hold up to 350-400 degrees.
Certain techniques will even coat non metal items, as long as they can hold up to the 400 degree cure temperature.

Oops...I meant to say I believe it's Steel.
Either way, I just figured this information would be helpful for some, but it makes no difference to me to keep contributing to this thread if everyone is sitting here thinking there's a conspiracy. Feel free to try out other products and post your own experiences within that thread. I'd probably read it, but for now I'll stick with my guy.

I was just inputting more out of curiousity than doubting/debating what you're saying. It's pretty clear that whatever he did is showing some amazing results, and I would really like to be able to replicate them.
And of course not for any form of profit, but personal use because again, cross-border shipping just won't fly for this.
If you do find any new info out about the process would you shoot me a PM? I'd really appreciate it.

^No problem. If I do determine what process he uses, I will PM you that information. A few people within this thread have already mentioned other products that *may* work so you might want to look into that. Please also post your results as I wouldn't mind paying less if I could

I apologize for the tone as I feel I misrepresented myself
I don't mean to accuse you of any conspiracy, just want to see if there is any way to get similar results. Regardless, what you have hit on is a good product, and I appreciate your input as to the results.
I have started to do some hobbyist powdercoating, and if I order some of that powder I'll update the community on the results, and would even offer to send you a sampl;e to compare with the product you have found. I would rather find the best solution, rather than argue about it over the net...

No hard feelings . This was just completely new news to me as I've been polishing parts for 4-5 years now and never ran across this procedure before. If we find a better solution, I'd be more than happy as well.

It's been quite sometime since I originally had my R1 strut bar coated. Based on my testing this procedure seems to be legit. My bar looks as good as new and both my friend and I have decided to move forward and coat all our polished parts using the same method. Looks like we have a winner

Just finished having my buddies parts polished then coated. Pricing was actually pretty reasonable this time around probably since I did more pieces. Everything came out looking pretty fantastic IMO. I'll take and post some pictures of my friends items soon.

I just had a fellow forum member ask me about oxidation on his polished part. Reminded me of this thread so I'd like to bump it up w/updates.
Basically, it's been over 6 months since I had my polished R1 strut bar treated with this procedure. Currently, I have another polished R1 strut bar sitting in my garage w/out treatment. Based on comparisons, the treated bar has shown ZERO signs of oxidation, while the non-treated bar has already begun oxidizing.
IMO, this is well worth the additional cost. Especially, considering most polishers charge $90+/hour. I never enjoy removing polished parts to "freshen up" or "re-polish", but it seemed like that was the only option before I stumbled across this procedure. I look forward to having all my polished parts treated. If anyone would like comparison pictures of my two strutbars, just ask and I'll post
Thanks,
-Rizwan
