How much to paint FD?

Can I get some input on how much it cost some of you to repaint your FD?

Thanks!

The cost of a paint job varies due to location, amount of work involved removing dings, etc.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, a decent paint job would be $3-5k with a good paint job being $5k+. Very high quality paint jobs are in the $7-10k range.

Other areas of the country will obviously be cheaper than here. But don't kid yourself, any paint job less than $3k is going to have noticeable flaws.

not necessarily. It really depends on the shop. I would say the most important thing is to go to a reputable shop. if youre changing colors at all, be prepared to shell out about 5k easily as it almost doubles the amount of work the body shop has to do. If you keep the same color, you can get a good job for 2-3000. Just look around, a very good paint job can be had for under $3000

good luck

My comments are meant in general and, as I pointed out, prices in other parts of the country will be cheaper. Ohio is a little cheaper than the Bay Area...

You can do a lot of the work yourself and save money as well.

I gutted my car and had all the jams painted, under the car, and every little corneer of my baby.

normally cost about 10 G's paint and labor for what I got, but I have a very good buddy in Utah to do it for about 4 G's.

And it is true, the more dings the more $, u can do it ur self if u have a good block strip the somewhat bends because there is no straight flat part on an rx7, then u need to know how to do body work. and then do the work.

trust if u want a good job and dont know a thing about painting, find someone that is reputable. and pay for it.

I'm a vocational student for collison/re-finishing repair so it just costs me my time and paint. But I'd say around $3k for a basic repaint. Anything special like lots of dents, pannel replacement, or color change just increases price. Masking the car and scuffing/fixing dents your self lowers costs a bit.

I did a complete color change for $900. I had no idea what I was getting into but with lots of sanding/grinding/sanding and the loss of my finger prints the paint came out quite nicely.

Not bad for a $900 color change Went from red to kandy blue.

Thanks for all the input guys... seems like it is almost better to get one with good paint than with a good engine!

Thanks,
John

huh? The car is still itself with a good engine, and runs...can't say the same if it has only good paint.

plus, a paint job is cheaper than a new motor unless you are gonna do all the work yourself.
