I want a paint job. I have never even considered painting a car before. How much am I looking at here? I do have one spot the size of a nickel that has rust (surface rust) on it, other than that the body is straight.

$900

Included everything but prep. 2 stage paint. Dupont primer, 3 coats of base, 2 coats of clear. Also included a gravel guard. Door jambs were not painted, nor was the rear hatch. All misc parts removed and painted while off car. Was taped by the painter.

Keep in mind you're biggest cost in painting a car is the prep. (Removing all the old paint, taking all parts off the body exept fenders, Wet sanding before paint and color sanding after) Its mostly a big pain to do, but the benifits are great if you take you're time.

If you're looking to have the shop do it and turn out great looking, expect to pay about $1500-$2000

i painted my car myself, well not all by myself i had help but it turned out just as good as the paint shop can do. i got the car for 700 but needed lots of body work. there was a large dent in the rear fender, and rust in the rear fenders. we cut the rust out welded new metal in, then mudded it, sanded, primed and after it was all done we painted it and looks good

about $3500. I'm also having a bodykit and new sunroof installed as well, so that figures in. Basically the guy is taking extreme care and time on the car, taking every individual panel off, taking care of any rust spots, stripping paint, and putting a few coats of Porsche black on them, with a nice deep clearcoat.
