How can i tell if my 99 spec wing is the real thing

i got this wing along with the car(not mounted) the previous owner when he got it he was told it was a actual 99 spec wing, I dont know if there are knock offs out there but if it is real what would give it away because the fitment for the stands is not very good and i would expect a factory piece to fit better

thanks guys

I'm no FD expert but it wouldn't suprise me if the 99 spec wing had different mounting spots then the older ones.

They have the same mounting spot and the wing uses 6 out of the 8 holes from the stock r1 wing.Could you post any pics up?

Well, couple of things.. one major part is the cover on the side. I believe fakes are fiberglass and real ones are plastic.

here are some pics.. I recently bought VIS copy. I bought it for the CF deck.

You can only tell by taking it off, IE the PN#s and serial numbers are on the inside of the mounts.

From personal observation, a large number of replica pieces (goes for others as well) are made of fiberglass.

yeah im pretty sure this is a fake the side covers are fiberglass and dont even have a spot for a screw you can see a flat spot where you would drill a hole and there are no Part numbers or anything like that on the bottom of the mounts.
that sucks oh well it came with the car its not like a payed extra for it.

thanks guys you've been a big help

this was the first time i actualy looked at it, the side plates had tape holding them on and it has just been sitting there im probably going to sell it since one of the reasons i was going to keep it was because it was actualy functional,
