HID question

Does anyone know why when my HID lights are turned on they often flash/flicker a orangish/whitish color and then remain steady on without the flickering. I read that this was due to a bad connection, but that was for when you were driving and you get that flickering symptom. It only happens to me when I first turn the car on. Is it just warming up or should I be worried. I drove a Lexus with HID's and they flickered just once coming on and then are fine. Any suggestions?

Re: HID question

HIDs just don't come on that quickly. Sort of like stadium lights I guess, only not as drastic of course. This is why they were not so well suited to high beam applications at first....how can you flash 'em if they don't come up immediately? I think the more recent HID setups have improved the turn-on time over the originals however.

The newer versions are alittle faster but they do take a split second to get to full brightness. My mom just bought an 03 Acura TL and her lights get to full brightness faster than my friend's aftermarket phillips
