HELP: Seibon Scoot hood not closing properly.

I just recently tried to fit this on the the bonnet scoot hood carbon fibre will not close properly. Is there some special bracket to use or something?

Can someone with knowledge or pass experience please let me know what to do?

Where did you buy it from? If you bought one from VIS, I remember they had two versions, the first one was a little bit lower than the second model. I'm not sure about others. Check which version you have, if its from VIS, the first model they tried to make rain gutters which I don't know if they worked and the second model, they just made some type of cover to shield everything which defeated the purpose of a scoot hood.

This shouldn't be in the 3rd gen section.

He said Seibon, not VIS, but that is all I am clear on. Are you saying it came w/ a hook on the hood and it doesn't line up to the stock latch..or what?? Proof read your stuff before you press enter!

my seibon scoot hood replica is doing the same thing, you can make the holes on the hinges bigger so you can have a little play for minor adjustments.

Isn't it made in Japan? Maybe someone in that section would have come accross the same problem. Has anyone seen both VIS and Seibon in person? It would be nice to compare them since Seibon is about $100 more.

I have seibon a Scoot hood. from Jason at Rx7store.net i had to "waller" out 2 holes on my hood hinges a lil bit other than that it fits fine except its got a lil gap at the front between the bumper and hood. (FD had a lil front end damage before i got it)

What are your gaps like when you try to close the hood if they are all even and right....then adjust your Latch mechanism. If not you'll be able to see which way it needs to go then just take out the dremel or drill however you feel like doing it and do both latches if need be but "measure twice cut once."

I got a seibon ks bonnet... the fitment was shocking im sorry to say out of the box. I had to file out the hinge holes a fair bit before i could get the bonnet to line up decently. I was quite dissapointed to tell you the truth.. it was way out to start with.

Looks good now that i modified the hinges. You get what you pay for though, if you bought a RE Amemiya ad9 or something they would fit really nicely out of the box.. i have a couple of mates with them and they are a damn nice fit.

:/

oh well.

Authentic RE-A hoods don't fit amazing either, good but there's a noticeable gap up front. Rotary Extreme hoods fit AMAZING. I'm honestly tempted to modify my stock hood myself sometimes.

Check the front most two bolts from the hood. There shouldn't be an area for them to receed into and that is what is stopping you. I took a saw and cut most of the excess off of my bolts. I cut mine after it was bolted to the car so I could reverse the nut off to make sure that the threads were still in alignment. You're other choice is to drill into your car where there is interference. I decided I'd rather mess with my hood rather than drill into my car. Hope this helps and you have the same problem.

I personally had the seibon scoot hood and it fit like stock no adjustment and almost like stock fitting. I know alot of companies sell knock off seibon hoods. Under thier hoods they have an aluminum plate with thier named stamped on it. does yours have that? if not most likely a knock off seibon. just something to look for. Out of all the stories i have heard of bad fitments 9/10 times they have turned out to be a copy seibon

Mine has the seibon alloy plate underneath the bonnet pop riveted on.

It was ordered from seibon and i bought it from the guy that ordered it.

I am very dissapointed with mine looking more closely at the fitment over the weekend. I made the holes in the hinge quite big to get the bonnet to line up acceptably.. but not i look at it from the front, the bonnet curves to much. Where you see the line at the very front where the bonnet meets up with the bumper, between the headlights.. the left and right sit flush but in the middle it sits higher then the line of the bumper, so it looks curved and is very noticeable.

I was expecting more from seibon, it wasn't cheap to get it here to Aus and then the previous owner got slugged by customs and cost him and extra $400AUD to get it cleared.

Also on the drivers side the bonnet sits really low, below the level of the fender, the passanger sits flush.

Awful, Awful bonnet.

I reckon i know what it is too, the original buyer being from Australia, Seibon probably had this bonnet and knew it wasn't 100% and sold it overseas so the buyer couldn't just return it if he wasn't happy. I mean this fitment out of the box would not go on, it was so far off to the left it was touching the left fender and you couldn't close the bonnet.

:/

Only reason i bought it was because i got it really cheap as the guy needed the money, but i now reckon the guy just wanted to get rid of it because he too wasn't happy with it.

Went for a weekend cruise and had two mates with AD9 RE-A genuine bonnets and both they fitted themselves, no drilling out the hinges and they had beautifully even gaps all around.

Hi Rice, i really appreciate you posting up pics for me That is exactly what mine does too... Least i am not the only one with this issue.

OEM bonnets sit beautifully flush all around.

I never expected an aftermarket bonnet to be like OEM, but i also didn't expect mine to be as bad out of the box :/ As for how ours sit.. i don't think there is anything we can do about it! At the front where it goes higher in the middle, there is no amount of aligning that could fix that, its the mould of our bonnets.

How did you find yours fitted when you installed it, did you have to make the hinge holes alot bigger to get both sides to fit ok?

It doesn't phase you about the front gap? It annoys the hell out of me to tell you the truth. No way could i enter my car into shows if i wanted that from my car with this bonnet. Lucky i don't care for that and just drive my car to have fun on the mountains. But it's the principal of the thing!

Haha...it is pretty handy for when I need to coat hanger my hood open. My car isn't in perfect shape so I just assumed my car was in a fender bender. I'm just happy to know that it is just the hood. Looking back at my old pics my stock hood fit fine.

Haha I bought a recleared hood from a forum member who practically doesn't drive his car. They cleared the mesh to the hood and the first couple days the clear cracked from the mesh from the hood. Now it's all fubared. I just slapped it on and was told I'd have to drill. I wasn't comfortable with that so I just sawed off the excess. I barely did any adjusting. Just tried to rotate it as counter-clockwise as possible (my driver's side head light cover catches the hood for whatever reason). It's a hood and it has vents. It does what I want it to do so I'll live with it until I get RE-A money. It's my fault for cheaping out on a hood. I live in Hawaii and my car is in Dallas so I don't have to look at it much. I wouldn't ever expect too much from VIS or Seibon. If they happen to be perfect then great, but if not then I guess it's to be expected. I'm just curious as to why you don't enjoy all the JDM goodness that side of the world has to offer you!

Thats true man, but the price of RE-A is still really expensive. Doesn't matter what side of the world you live on. I wanted a AD9 bonnet but didn't have the cash at the time, and this came up and i like the knight sports copy style so i got it anyways. Like you said it has vents which is the main reason for purchasing it

It matches my FEED carbon side skirts

Hey i forgot to ask you in the other post, did you have any troubles installing your wiper jets? My OEM ones from my stock bonnet dont fit. The holes are a bit too big so they just sit in there without any tightness. Im thinking ill try and find some aftermarket ones with a bigger clip in peice or something like that. Other wise i may find myself glueing it to the bonnet which i dont want to do.

They could at least get the holes right for the jets to go in FFS. Another thing that is dodgy about the bonnet... grrr

Well that's good to know. I couldn't get the lines/squirters off of my stock hood so I just have two holes in my hood. I could really care less at this point. I've heard of poor fitment with some RE-As as well. I might just pick up a FG Feed hood from Shine. He seems to make top notch stuff for reasonable prices. I have issues paying semi-high prices for knockoffs, but at least it's an assurance of quality. Good luck with your car and if you come up with a solution be sure to let me know.

lol there is no solution besides to just live with it i feel.

getting the jets off was no issue, just some need nose plyers in there, squeeze the clip part and they pop out. Was all in vein though i guess cause they wouldn't go back on the seibon bonnet.

Im going to try a parts store or two on the weekend, see if any aftermarket ones fit. As long as they aren't the neon ricer lights!

Man if the bonnet fitted nicely i wouldn't care about spending a little bit of money on a copy bonnet. I know what you are saying but if it fits well i wouldn't care what brand it has on it. That said im not going to buy a bonnet and hope it fits without it being tested on the car if at all possible. If shine is local to you id drive around there and fit it onsite

speaking of washer nozzles does any one know of plain black ones that fit, that instead of the individual streams it has a spray pattern? my gf's scion has that kind, and its safe to say thats the only thing i like on her car, lol. but any how its a fan pattern instead of a V shape.
