Had a wing glued to my body a couple yrs ago, how to take off now

I had a Mazdaspeed 3pc wing installed on my FD when I first bought it. The middle was simply bolted on. The sides were glued on to the rear fenders. I'm not sure what kind of glue it is but it is some strong stuff. I can try to wiggle it and the car moves before the wing will. Anyone know of any solvent or anything to take this thing off? I was thinking some sort of a paint stripper, it is suppose to strip anything off of metal. Or maybe a heat gun and hopefully it will melt or get soft. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried using a continuem transfunctioner?

Just kidding dude. You'll need that flat spatchula (sp?) lookin thingy to wedge in between the car and the spoiler. Have another person help you pull upward while you do the wedging.

You could try 3m 's general purpose adhesive remover -08984. Your local autobody paint & supply store should have it. I have used that product many times with success. Be careful though a lot of products like that contain Acetone which can mess your paint up.
Good Luck

Thanks guys for the help but I don't think you realize how hard this glue is. It's hard as a rock!! I can prety much hit the wing with a hammer and the wing would break, not the glue. A spatchula would most likely break or dent my car up really nice. I'l tray some of the solvents mentioned but I think I need something way more potent. BTW, I don't car about the paint. I'm getting a new paint job next month

Why don't you ask the shop that installed the wing?

Its probably a two part epoxy, might be damm near impossible to remove, extreme scenario that might save your cars paint and body as much as possible: cut the wing away as close to the car as you can, then grind the wing down until you get to the car, chances are they grinded or sanded all the paint off the car when they glued the wing down and the car will need to get some minor filling and paint anyhow.

I think I'm going to try a heat gun. Hopefully it will melt the glue just enought for me to peel the wing off. Then I'll just sand the rest of the glue off. I don't mind getting small dents to get this off but I just don't want that much body filler on my car

1: Heat it, that won't hurt anything...

2: 3M Adhesive Remover

3: If that doesn't work, try 1 & 2 together.

4: Now it gets messy, best thing would be to bust out the die grinder and do what Rob said.

Good luck!
