Question good head unit for around 200 dollars?

My fd's cd player skips, so I'm looking to buy a new head unit, and was wondering which was a good one for around 200 bucks. And how could i install it, if not by myself, how much would it cost to install?

install isn't too dif. you could prob. do it yourself...it will be a little harder if you have the bose system...the best prices i've found are on ebay...you can get NEW units for about half the price you would pay at a retail store....

i have a used Alpine minidisk player i'll sell ya for $200...it's was a $650 headunit 1.5 years ago...i just removed it on saterday and it works great...

Do an ebay search for Clarion. They were ranked #1 past 2 years, not sure about this year.

There have been some reliablity issue reports that I have seen about them, but I got a Nakamichi CD-40z for about $150 on uBid.com a while back. I installed it myself (pretty easy with a harness and an antenna adapter) and it has been working perfectly for a year or two. I was worried that it would skip a lot on my stiff car, but it doesn't skip much at all. It never skips during normal driving.

I have a nak cd-40 too...good choice. "ebay $125" It has a rep of not liking burned cds but i havn't seen it. The bonus is that it has about the same output as the bose head unit so it interfaces with the bose amps very well. Plus, it has front rear fade so you can tune the wacky wave tube a little better.

any local adio place should be able to get you a kit to make the install easy. Also depending on the year if you have a pocket thingy under the radio just about any size radio should fit into there.

do you knoe if this fits the FD? crutchfield says it doesn't and while i'm inclined to believe that there is a high probability that crutchfield may be wrong on a lot of things, it'd be reassuring to knoe whether or not it fits/works or doesn't before buying. otherwise it looks like a great deal, just nee to knoe it works.

Good guys will install HU for free. My GF got a Kenwood HU for $130. Kenwood and Alpine are reputable.

Clarion sucks big time. I got a changer that jammed 6 months new and was repaired under warranty. Another 2 yrs later, the FM modulator broken so it's just junk now. It skips all the time too.
