Getting ready to create my sub enclosures, quick questions.

I'm planning on making some nice enclosures that fit between the strut tower and teh rear of my FC. I was going to lay down a butt-load of waxpaper on the floor and side of the interior, then lay and slobber the area with fiberglass to make the rear, and make the front and top out of 1/2" MDF. Just wondering if you guys for-see any problems with the waxpaper idea, and if it would be sturdy enough for a 10" power acoustics.

you may want to lay towels down behind the wax paper so the heat from the curing glass won't warp the plastic....

How hot does that fiberglass get when it's curing? When I was using it for the bodywork I don't remember any real heat coming off it.

use some cling-film, held down with a few layers of masking tape. That way, you'll have a totally waterproof seal.

The heat from the curing fibreglass is about 25 degrees C at most, nothing to worry about

are you planning on using the body filler putty or resin..... some of the resins I've used have gotten very hot... I actually melted a storage bin in an explorer we were molding a box too.... I would say the resin I used got much hotter than 25C

Resin, and when I was doing the body work I managed to get a good deal of it all over my gloves during the process and it didn't feel cold, but not warm or hot either. I think it might depend on the resin type maybe. I used the polyurethane stuff.

Maybe I should just buy a cheap drop cloth and see if that works. Will the fiberglass release from a plastic surface like that, or will I just have to apply fiberglass to the backside as well?

If you're using the urethane type you should be fine. I used the simple fiberglass resin... On top of that it's also dependent on how much of the curing(hardening) solution you use. If you use plastic it may stick. Tin foil will work best probably... insulates heat and also shouldn't stick especially if you cover it in some vaseline or spray pam on it.
