Fortune conversion
Just finished the conversion started 2 months back, still needs some touch up work but I think we're nearing completion.
I know this will probably get alot of flame, fortunately I don't really care. We're all entitled to our opinions, but please try not to be offensive is voicing them if you have any.
Thanks.
For now just 2 pics: Before and after.

This looks really good mate. Love the exotic look of the curves. I'm a massive fan of the RX curves anyway, but if you're gonna alter the body, this has to be one of the most exclusive and unique kits out there. The black looks superb, but then I'm biased on that having a black on myself.
Good work.
Good work.

Good call on the horizontal flip! must be from the symbols on the plates.
Looks great! love that you kept it one color, shaved the bumps smooth, and ditched the kit mirrors. The red interior also looks great and is offset by the black nicely. More pictures are defiantly needed!
not to beat a dead horse but those wheels gots ta go!
How many Fortune RX7's are in South Africa currently that you know of? are you the first?

No flames here, the all black Fortune look's superb! Could you post more pictures? As have been mentioned, those wheels aren't up to par with the rest of the car. Just an opinion. If you like the wheels, that's all that matters.
As a fortune kit owner myself (not installed yet), what's wrong with the fortune mirrors with the kit? Do they not line up properly for a left hand drive car or do you guys not like the asthetics of them?
+1 also for shaving the warrior armor bumps. I plan on doing that also.

Just an opinion but I don't find the Fortune mirrors flow very well with the rest of the kit. I also wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the Fortune mirrors. The stock ones look more aggressive in contrast and retain the power options.
When I look at RX's with the Fortune Mirrors installed I find they stick out, detracting from the rest of the car. The mirrors in my opinion shouldn't be a focal point.
I will be going with APR CF mirrors, but have my stock mirrors painted to match the exterior in case I want to switch it up. I like the small size of the APR mirrors and feel the CF will tie in the CF in the front lip.
All just personal preference though. I'll sell mine if anyone wants them.

Hei,
Quick response to all. I hope.
It will stay black, it looks nice in one colour I think, though it is actually slightly 2 toned. the center is black with red pearl (sparkles) and the outside is black with silver pearl, hasn't been polished yet so it doesn't show, is having wheels aligned today etc and polishing tomorrow maybe.
Wheels: yes, they are ratehr "bling" they were all chrome and we painted the recesses black but had not seen them on the car, I like them myself but didn't expect them to look so shiny... I might consider doing them in black completely, not really sure yet.
There are only 2 fortunes in this country, mine and another which is a 20B belonging to someone else I know. His is orange and black and looks very fast and furious but is incredibly fast.
Warrior armour bumps: Yeah... those had to go.. they just seemed random even though I understand the styling and culture behind them it just wasn't for me. Be careful shaving yours off though, it may go right through the bodywork and then you will need to fibreglass and fill.
The mirrors: if I were you I'd ditch them. Firstly I agree they should not be a focal point. Secondly, they are NOT electric. I'm not sacrificing that, they also do not come with a rubber seal which is another matter. Mine are my standard, I just had them recessed a little and filled that with carbon fibre to match the spoiler on the front bumper. I may accent other bits of the car the same way but don't want it to be overkill.
Right hand drive: I just flipped the image to give a better impression of the changes. In South Africa all cars are Right hand drive.
Pics: I will put up more as soon as I get a chance, internet here is giving me hassles so it may need to wait until next week.
All in all thanks for your opinions and critique, it's interesting to hear other's views.

looking forward to more pics, and like the sound of the CF tie in with your mirrors, if you could snap one showcasing that mod, would appreciate it.
I also love the idea of two shades of black to accent the lines as well that you've described, I went a similar direction with very subtle color change to make the most of the depth of the contours.
Are you planning a backup camera? how do you find your rear visibility? Can't wait to see more!

Hei,
More pics coming soon, car is in the workshop having paint polished etc... Will post a few more when I get her back.
Fortune Seven: Will post the pics you requested, I agree with you, it's good to try and highlight the contours, I'm not sure it will work, but I hope so, we'll see when the polish is done. I am definitely installing a backup camera as well as sensors for the front and back. The rear visibility is somewhat diminished and your blind spot is pretty large, I think I may need to swap my mirror glass for that partitioned glass that shows both blind spot and normal area, it's a little tricky to drive with the added width as I'm sure you know, but I think it just takes some getting used to.
Callsign Vega: I drive my car for the most part, but the car came with electric mirrors, that's a feature I don't want to lose, also with the new kit making the car wider, you need to do a bit of adjustment on the road to find the best position for visibility, I'm glad to be able to do that at the push of a button instead of having to lean over or stop the car. FD's aren't hell of a luxurious with being so low and what not, so I'm hanging onto every scrap of creature comfort I can get. Finally, the mirrors that come with the kit actually look a little shitty when you see them up close.
