Focal and MB Quart 6.5" Installation
All -
(1) I understand that the standard/stock install size for the fronts is a 5.25" speaker. However, can 6.5" be installed with but minor modifications? I am condering a separate 2-way system, BTW, with the tweets drilled into the doors.
(2) If you have either speaker type (Focal or MB Quart) , can you please expound upon your installation experience AND sound experience?
(3) Pics of your install would be greatly appreciated. Search yielded a small cluster of informative pics, but overall, not that many.
Thanks in advance,
Eggman

Actually Eggman, the stock size for a Touring (Bose) system in the front is a 4" speaker. I just purchased 5.25 Kappa Perfects to install in the front. I have seen a picture of the Bose enclosure modified to fit 6.5 Rockford Fosgate Components, but I couldn't tell how well the enclosure was sealed; therefore, I purchased 5.25 and will do some minor modifications to the enclosure with a Dremel.

Focal components sound really good and clear. MB Quart components sound good in the mids, but the highs are a little harsh, but overall a good speaker.

Thanks for your feedback.
I would presume, then, that 6.5" can be MADE to fit with some modifications? Large or small in scope?
Also, is there a huge difference in 5.25 and 6.5 sound? I presume there is a difference; as to what degree, I do not know.
Thanks,
Eggman.

eggman, i'm in the middle of doing my stereo as well, i've bought some non-bose speaker pods to fit the focal 6.5's in the doors (5.25x1.5deep, non bose). the focal's are not here yet, but they are very slim, and should fit with minor modification to the pod, there is a 'slim' in the polyglass line, but the polykevlar's are still slimmer, and should sound better. from what i've heard, focal's have a more "live" sound, but i'm use to my dynaudio home speakers too. i haven't listened to my car stereo in almost a year. and there is a limit to what you can do in a car without going overboard and paying extra for nothing. but overall, you've done some homework and know what you want. i'm still deciding on a tight clean sub. any opinions?

hope it helps a little.
