FD Window Motor Slow ???

I've had my FD now for a year and a half... and for some reason, the window goes fast when at the very bottom of travel and at the top, I figure the track in the middle needs greasing cause it comes to a crawl in the middle.... any Ideas !? Is this a part that can be greased !? Or is it a replacement situation ???

I tried searching but came up will all kinds of Window motors for sale... nothing about how to fix it...

I have the same problem with mine. I think that my windows are probably worse because I have to "help" the drivers side window up. I have heard of a couple of solutions to the problem.

One solution was to use a silcone based lubricant. I am not sure if this is the best way to go.
Another is to try to bend out the window tracks so they do not rub or cause friction with the glass. This seems a little ghetto to me but if it works.....
The last solution I have heard and the one I will be using when the car is running again is to just buy new tracks for the window.

I have some silicone axle grease from Pep Boys, but I'm unshure where to apply, since applying it in the wrong place could cause grease streeks for years...

Anybody woth a shop manual or experience know what the tracks look like ?? are they using a pully, or gears or what ??

I am not really sure if the grease was the way to go. I didnt try it for the same reason as your concerns. It sounded a little fishy to me.

Put the grease on the gears but they might be worn out.

take the door panel off and grease the window regulator and the wheels on it, trust me it will make a world of a difference, basicly any type of grease will work so just lube that puppy up

Another thing you could try is spraying silicone lubricant on the rubber seals surrounding the window. I had the same problem, but the grease in the tracks didn't quite do it, and then I noticed that a good source of friction was from the glass sliding along the rubber.

ONLY use silicone lubricant in the spray form. WD-40 and other lubircants actually make the friction worse.

I realized after an autocross day that my window had the same issue that you discuss. After removing the door panel, I noticed that I must have bent the upper frame of the door (where the top of the door panel latches to the door). I simply pulled on the top of the door frame and tied the window again. The window was now operating correctly. I guess my weight pushing aginst the door in the autocross must have caused the issue. Hope that helps

I did BOTH on the FD a few weeks ago. The grease on the regulator didn't too much. The silicone spray on the rubber seals surrounding the window made it perfect for all the 2 hours I used it lol. By the next day, it was back to normal.

In my FB, I actually have to pull the window up and push it down. Didn't help at all. I figure the regulator itself is going bad...
