fd navigation

I am putting a pioneer avic d3 navi unit in the car and was wondering if anyone knew where i could pick up a speedo pulse and also where to pick up the reverse signal at?? There should be a speedo imput up by the cluster and i am guessing that there is a reverse light wire somewhere around the transmissoin?? Thinking that someone has done this here before??

Thank you for all your help guys!

I didn't hook up the speedo wire. I'm relying on the GPS alone to handle the speed calculation. However you can pick up the speedo signal at Connector X-14.

"Connector X-14...located under the dash on the passenger footwell area, it's the white connector up behind the RX-7's blower motor near where the emissions harness passes thru the firewall.

...orange (manual cars) or blue (automatic cars)...this wire went to the ground side of the RX-7's VSS sending unit, which was located in the driver's side of the RX-7 transmission's tailhousing. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this X-14 connector, these wires change to yellow w/ white stripe.

.black wire w/ red stripe (manual cars) or yellow w/ blue stripe (automatic cars)... comes from 15a fuse in underdash fusebox. This is the power source for the back-up lites. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this connector, these wires change to black w/ yellow stripe."

Why would you want to do this? I like that the GPS does the speedo calculations.

The Avic manual states that navigation will be more accurate if you use both sources.
