FD chin spoiler on S4 FC??

yea, i saw it. or at least, i THINK i saw it.

i saw an S4 vert w/ what LOOKED to be the black ABS plastic chin spoiler from an FD. i think they are the spoilers that came on the R1's, R2's, and Touring, but im not sure.

and to boot, he had an R1/R2 wing on his trunk lid... now im sure theres no way to get that on my Hatchback...but it looked bad ***, and it fit PERFECT.

is there away for me to stick an FD chin spoiler on my S4 FC w/o extensive mods???

thanks
chris

no seriously though. i would SWEAR it was from an FD. almost so sure, that i would put money on it.

a whole front bumper swap would be a little more involving than just bolting on the chin spoiler... the chin spoiler is a project i would undertake...however, the whole front bumper, is a dangerous proposition. my car would never be the same again, in a bad way.

its JUST Like the front lip in that pic. only his was still the same black that it was when it first came out.

it actually looked stock, like it belonged there. it was really tasteful and understated. not gaudy or out of place.

hell i should get one, and try to make it fit myself. i think it would only work on an S4 anyhow. cuz its got a perfect arc on the front bumper. the S5's are not a smooth arc across the bumper. probably wouldnt work.

oh well. i doubt ill see the car again anytime soon. i just saw it when i was in town. its like lookin for a needle in a haystack, but only from 3pm till 5pm, on odd numbered days of the month... highly unlikely ill run across it again.

That 2nd pic of the conversion actually looks really good on the FC...if it didn't cost much I'd do that to an FC, or of course you could just buy the FD ;-)

Yea I'd say if you like the look of the front lip and rear spoiler It's time to admit you'd rather have a Fd my freind. Don't be ashamed......It's ok.

yea, i know. but sure cant afford that $2500 semi annual insurance....

guess ill have to stick w/ the older, less costly, FC, and just put some FD aspects on it...

btw, i cant afford to finance an FD. especially when they fetch $13k-$23k, and banks only do 3 year loans on cars that old...or something short like that. some kid wanted a 94 Touring from the dealer (traded in on an MPV) and the monthly payments for the LOAN were $950...forget about the insurance for a male under 25 w/ a traffic wrap sheet longer than my...well its pretty long.

that one actually looks pretty good, imo. but its not a stock 99 fd front bumper. it looks like a more custom job, with 99 bumper lights molded in... perhaps a japanese "drift" style kit? looks clean to me.

now that one is nice. its actually proper looking, as if it belongs on the car. tahts how they should all be.

but thats alittle to extreme for me to undertake by myself...seeing as how thats the way i work. im a cheep bastard.

yea, the RX-7 Store sells the 99 spec chin spoiler for about $160. they say its Polyurethane. so its flexible like the front bumper itself. and the S4 have generally the same curve as the FD, just by eyeballing it, it LOOKS like it could fit.

all u would have to do is take off the bottom black lip on the stock bumper, and put the 99 spec piece up there, and install it one bolt at a time, work from the center outward, and "persuade" it to bend to the contours/curve of the S4 bumper.

for $160, its a very nice mod, if it works. its subtle, and looks factory.

maybe i should try it. what else could i spend that $160 on??? a header, Y pipe, and Pineapple sleeves?
