The clear coat is coming off the back half of the car. I just bought meguiar's mirror glaze professional cleaner wax but am hesitant to use it because i was told it could cause more damage if i used it where there was no clear coat.

And another question, has anyone ever gotten a respray of their stock color, and what were you charged? the painter in town here wants to charge me $4000 at the minimum. That went out the window pretty damn quick.

 

wtf 4 k for a respray of clear. No way dude don't take that offer. Find a community college with an auto body course. I bet the teacher will do it for almost free. If u add a little more$$ on the side he'll play more attention too. I could respray ur car for an easily 300 in materials. Add like 400 for labor too. If ur scared of ruining ur paint even more than just tape off a small section of the area and test it out. Be carefull and go slowly with light pressure and do not use oribital buffer. If it looks good then do the rest.

 

Yes, 4k for a simple respray of color and clear is waaayyy too much. Find someone else. They're going to have to take all of the clear off before they repaint obviously but it still shouldn't cost that much.
