Are you sure it's not the hatch ratttle? This is what my car suffered from.

This can be fixed by relocating the hatch locking mechanism further down. Easily done by undoing the bolts(I think ther are 4) and then moving the mechanism down and tightening the bolts back up.

I think you're a little confused Draguer... The MDF/Vinyl that Turbo was talking about was the cover for the box he built. even though he doesn't talk about it in the posts, he's showing you what application he used Dynamat for. Also there is no such thing as Dynamats. there is no s, just making sure you didn't think they were floor mats or square pieces of fabric that you just place in the car. Dynamat is an insulating/dampening material that you line the interior body panels of your car with to reduce the effects of road noise. If your trunk rattles without dynamat, there's a good posiblility that it will rattle with dynamat. The best thing you can do is to make your car as tight as possible. drive around without the stereo on and fix all squeaks and rattles coming from the rear of your car first. then turn on your subs and repeat the process.

If you're going to add sound deadener to stop the rattling don't use Dynamat because it's overpriced. There's a lot more products out there that is cheaper and works better then Dynamat. Check out Raammat, you can get that on Ebay, you can get the regular 50sq ft roll for $69 + shipping. There is also Brown bread which is better then dynamat but I would prefer Raammat. Go to car audio forum forum.sounddomain.com and ask about Raammat, they love it!

i checked those *4* bolts to tighten my hatch....WHERE are the bolts??? i guess ill start with that first...then go to the shop to ask about dynamat or raammat........i guess i can survive with a rattlin for NOW....

There's actually cheaper stuff than what you are mentioning (Raammat), you can buy the same stuff on McMaster Carr
www.mcmaster.com
just "search" under sound dampening.

Mcmaster has the hi temp viscoelastic damping material which is about $22 a sheet. I forgot what the size is but Raammat is easier to apply. I prefer Raammat, to each his own.
