Please God, don't tint your own windows. I'm the guy who has to remove it and tint it right when you decide your attempt(s) failed horribly. DIY tint kits should be illegal

If you do decide to do this, hit me up and I will walk you through it, the rollups atleast....you are screwed if you are thinking of doing that rear hatch.

No definetly not, i'm don't worry i'm not a complete moron, and i have had to remove tint before and actually have to do it again pretty soon b/c the previous owner put 2% on my daily driven RX-7 and i finally got caught for it (its also coming off by itself) I already have a couple of spare FC windows i've untinted if its easier to do when they are out of the car . . .

But say i decide to go to a shop, what kind of prices should i expect? for hatch and roll-ups?

take it to a shop for that one man. i do pretty much everything on my car myself. but windows, no way.
the pros will do so much nicer of a job and use a way better product then the DIY kits. and it aint that much. somewhere around 200 bux should take care of it

I was trying to be nice and not shoot down all your hopes and dreams, but yes they are all right....don't it yourself as 99.9% of the time it is just a damn mess. It took me about 6 months of doing it EVERY DAY ALL DAY LONG before I was consistently producing a professional install, so it wasn;t until about the 100th car before I started to really understand what was going on.

2 door hatch, I charge 185 for the 3 windows for a high performance film which is a part dyed/part metal film (full metal is $245) and usually takes about an hour.

If you want something that is going to last a long time, stay away from dyed films unless they have a non-fading and color change warranty so that way you are covered if it goes to hell. Otherwise, stick with hybrid/high performance films (which are dyed/metal films) or if you like having the best, get a full metal or ceremic film.

Some shops offer them all, some only offer one film. Shop around, and the cheaper price typically means a cheaper install. So if Jose down the street says he will do it for 50 bucks....RUN. But don't spend 300-500 dollars just for some window tint, keep it reasonable and find a quality shop.

Even if it's walmart tint, if a pro puts it on it will look great....just won't last long. So don't think by going with a little bit cheaper film that it will look any less attractive, just make sure the person doing it knows what they are doing.

Oh, and one more thing...go easy on them when you "eye ****" their work. Window tint just can't be "perfect" no matter how good the installer is, and it will always have a few specks here and there. Common sense will tell you what is okay, and what is not.

And your state law is 33% net on the front drops, and ANY on the rear hatch, in case you care, most people don't
