DIY sandblasting box.
I got sick of not being able to reuse the grit from my sandblaster so I made a box to make things easier, still have to put a clear window on the top.
was cheap and easy to make would be better if it was bigger of course but for anyone who wants to sandblast smaller parts at home it does the job...

Haha cost me like $15 dollars to make, the holes aren't cut perfectly but I lose hardly any sand and it beats paying 1000 - 1500 for a proper blasting cabinet or buying bag after bag of sand/grit.
I use heavy duty rubber gloves and I cut of the sleeves off a old jumper I had lying around and use that for a bit of protection, safety goggles, dust mask and your set lol
If space isn't a issue for you I'd make one out of wood/timber with a Perspex window big enough to fit fenders and bumpers in, it's the best for getting rid of rust/old paint doesn't hurt or burn the metal like a grinder does just got to watch out for warping the panel.

Haha yea i seen some DIY vids of people blasting at home in there garage and by the end of the video there's kilos of sand on the floor and all over the place.
Haha working like that can't be good for you silica poisoning doesn't sound like fun, that's why they need that NASA space looking helmet when they blast lol would be a easy job but I reckon.

I knew a guy that made up a "mini paint booth" out of a Kitchen range hood ducted to the outside of the house and clear plastic curtains surrounding the hood and table!

Do you have a **** to adjust how much sand that comes out the blaster, when it feels like it's blocking open the dial to unblock it then turn it down.
Have you got a moisture trap on your compressor you might be the getting moisture from the compressor being on too long happened to me as well. Just wait for air compressor to load up it may take forever but your using higher air pressure and saves you having to refill the sand every 2 seconds.

When I was using sand, I built a little shifter to shift out the bigger pieces. I don't like using sand any longer because the dust can cause silicosis. I now use washed coal slag. They commonly call it "Black Beauty." Here in the states it sells for about $7 a 40# bag and is 24 grit.

I found the sand was doing a better job than the garnet I'm using now, after using up the bag I'm goin to switch to another medium.
