DIN cup holder?

Anyone know if this fits the FD?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Cupholder-Mazda-...ayphotohosting

Also, does anyone know of a universal blank DIN plate? I know about the plexi ones being sold on the forum...they are nice, but I'm going to mount some heavy duty switches to the plate and I can't rely on double-sided tape to hold things in place.

Thanks,

-ch

I would assume that will get into the way/or bother while shifting.

Why not get the cupholder with the hook that hangs over the side by the handbrake?

Well, I would assume that since it is a regular din-sized one that it would fit, depending on the depth available in your FD's DIN slots. Measure your stereo's depth (preferably the stock stereo if you have it) and compare it to the depth of the cup holder.

On my FC's stock stereo, it is 5 3/8" deep, not including the plastic faceplate. With the faceplate, it is 6" on the dot. For the S4 FC, you have 6" to work with.

I think there is a cup holder that pops out.Fits in the Din..I believe it in is a Taurus(not 100 percent on that, but someone will correct me if I am wrong). you take that and place it in the spot for the stereo. Some guys have put it in their FC..

Im not talking about the actual din fitting into the slot, im talking about with the cup holder extended out, will it be in the way of shifting? Or will it be of annoyance?

Yup, it's from a 92-95 Taurus/Sable. According to the listings on Ebay, it's about an inch deeper than the FC's stock stereo. It might not be of any issue, but I'd suggest measuring the FD's din slots to be 100% certai that it'll fit without sticking out. As for the FC, there was plenty of extra space behind the stock stereo, so there shouldn't be any problems.

I had one of those taurus things in my FC. Kind of a bad spot for a cup holder right by the shifter (and mine is auto).

I am inclined to agree with 1QUIK7; a cup holder will probably interfere with shifting into 1st, 3rd, and 5th. Of course, that's only if your car isn't an autotragic. Then you're just punching out your cola when you park.

I would have to agree that it seems like it would get in the way with shifting/radio and such

I got one of these for my FC3C and it is fairly generic as far a fitting a DIN.
No problems shifting or w/stereo, but I don't know about the FD.
*If cup holder is holding a wide bottle, like Sierra Nevada, the bottle bumps the stereo occasionally when removed. Not a problem with longnecks, like Deshutes.
Worst case: you spend $20 and an afternoon installing/uninstalling if it doesn't fit.
Then you can gift it to a friend with an FC!
I picked it up from: http://myworld.ebay.com/philsonh (search store for rx-7)
It has one slot for 2 cups and one drawer for whatever. I find cups on bottom works best, but it is switchable. It fits a variety of cups or bottles but I don't know about soda bottles, since they flair out at the bottom and the unit has a spring-loaded arm to snug smaller bottles in tight.

I love my FC. I love it more with cup holders.
