Question Dampening Material??

Does anyone knows if the dampening material is worth putting in the car? I was thinking of using Dynamat, Rockford Fosgate, or some type of company that helps reduce the dB and rattling in my car. Any information on this type of material will be extremely helpful to me, because I have no clue about this topic.
Thanks,

Dynomat works, i use it all the time. put it in doors, trunk, anywhere you want the base to reflect back into your car. Easy to do.

If you want to save a little money check out the sound damping material at .www.mcmaster.com . It'll save you about 75% over dynamat and is virtually the same material. It can definitely make a big difference

Any info on the weight relationship between Dynamat, the stuff McMaster sells, and stock 1st gen crap?

I'm thinking of lightening my car a bit while still keeping some creature comforts.

If you don't have a sunroof, running a couple of panels of it across the roof is a night and day difference.

I always recommend it except if you want to go fast (because the stuff is heavy).

And it is all pretty much the same thing from one brand to another, just get the cheapest, and make sure you clean (with acetone) any surface you are going to put it on.

Reckless;

I have dynomat in my car and it helps to absorb the sounds and rattling. I am redoing my whole entire sound system and I am going to use dynomat all over my car.

Yes. The weight of the McMaster stuff and dynamat original is the same. I have used both and did a side by side comparison which resulted in me not being able to tell a difference in the material other than the dynamat logo and the mcmaster being a little more pungent. After a day or two, they smelled the same.

I worked at Circuit City in the car audio department for two years......one word.....DYNAMAT. It really helps...it holds most of the sound in the car, and prtects against serious vibration.

I do have a sunroof, so that idea is out the window.

Does one or two layers make a difference in road and engine noise? Does it weigh more or less than stock?
