custom stealthbox for the fd

Im going to design a new stealthbox for the fd since this partly what I do for a living. I will make it out of fiberglass. Im still not sure on location, either the spare tire well or under the strut bar is where it will be. If you have ideas as far as other locations Im open to them, I will be building this each by hand on an order basis, I have pictures of my other work, so let me know if you are interested. Also I will deisgn these on an individual basis as far as subwoofer size. So let me know guys!

I have an idea kinda thing for your boxes. The one I have for my FD that holds 2 JL subs is pretty much a baisic rectangular looking box that has the amp mounted on the back side thats hidden under the rear strut bar and by that little cover thing there thats behind the seats. The box fits in just right leving the spare tire. Thats probaly what you have in mind for your boxes just thought I would make a sugjestion there for ya to give ya some ideas if that wasn't what you where doing already. By the way a custom made fiberglass box should sound great too.

What you should do is find someone that has an original JL Audio Stealthbox for the FD, and copy it because JL Audio hasn't produced this box in a while, and alot of people are trying to find it used. I for one have been searching for it also, and I even wrote E-mails to some JL Audio reps about it, trying to get some made for a group buy, and they never even responded to my e-mails.

Ive contacte Jl-audio directly today, I have some old contacts there from when I was an M.E.S. at tweeter. They do not have or carry the mold anymore so their deisgn is basically out of the question. Also I have seen and used their design in the past but wasnt that impressed with it. With the airspace provided in the spare tire well I should be able to make the following boxes (1) 12", (1) 10", (2) 10", and (2) 8". I will be using a newer brand of subwoofers that have tested highly among the car audio magazines as well as myself. I have no idea on a final cost yet. For those of you who would like the box made around the strut bar I will be able to make a (2) 12", or (2) 10" box for you out of 3/4" MDF. I can either carpet these, or vinyl wrap them to the interior, I can also recess the subs if youd like and add a flush mount grille to add a little style to it. Im still taking ideas so these are very rough at the moment so keep brainstorming, thanks.

These ideas sound great. Please post final cost or approximate cost when you can.

Thanks,

Victor

I would like a fiberglass box that can fit two quality 10's and fit nicely under the rear strut bar. I really don't care about the design, etc. Something trick would be cool but the propper air volume and fit would be the most important thing. I have actually had to use my spare tire several times and I do not want to lose it. If this can be done let me know.

chris, it can be done, thats not an issue, like I said I am designing two boxes, one fiberglass for the spare tire well and one made of mdf for under the strut bar, with the subs recessed etc.

well I can use whatever brand you choose to go with but Id prefer to use some nice subs that require a SMALL amount of airspace, under .70 made by cutting edge audio
