Custom Seats FD

What do you guys think of my new seats? The black is a Porsche Black Leather and the red is Alcantera.

Thinking about an accident while sitting in those makes my head hurt. Specifically, the back of my head. Other than that, I like it mostly because it is unique.

Who would of thought this thread should be in the interior forum...go figure?? :-)

I like that they're constructed like stock.

Who did you have make them?

Seats

I thought about the emblem and issues with it hitting the back of the head. The embelms are inset into the back of the headrest, so there is much padding around them. I wanted something different than the normal embroderie. That has been done to the nth degree. The seats were done by a local upholsterer in Melbourne FL, PDQ Upholstery.

I also like them minus the "alien/toilet bowl" emblem. My biggest problem is that the headrest is a safety item. Installing a hard logo exactly where your head collides (in an accident) is not the best idea in the world.

Other than that I like the two tone scheme.

Where did you source the Alcantara from? Did you just bring it to an upholstery shop and tell them what you were looking for?

Custom Seats

The emblem is the same one that was on the front and back of the car. It is the previous version of the Mazda logo. As far as the sourced material, it was ordered from PDQ upholstery but it is made in Italy. From my understanding Italy is the only manufacturer of Alcantera. Thanks for all the comments, I think the emblems give a unique touch. As far as safety I'm not worried about them hitting the back of my head, the padding is thick and the emblems as stated previously are inset into the foam backing.

I also like them minus the emblem. Not for a safety reason (though I guess thats a possibility too) but just from a looks perspective. Of course, I'm not much for the normal embroidery in that spot either.

Not bad just don't like the emblem. I did the same thing with my seats but did a darker tan rather then red. Looks good in my FD since it is black and tan interior.

I dislike the many ripples, two tone color, red stitching, emblem and slack from the leather not being stretched properly but that's just my opinion. Mazda did many things right with the FD and some things should be left alone!

BMW imola red II is my fav red of all reds. However a non faded well maintained VR FD looks soo great! "RX7RAGE" on here has exactly that and it looks amazing.

Seats

Hey thanks for the replys, the seats are very comfortable in fact more so than the stock base seats ever were. I can sit in these for a long time and not have my butt fall a sleep.
