Na all I had to do was remove the ash tray then dremmel a little hole for the cord to go though and it slides right in.

Does your arm hit the buttons or anything while youre driving?

I had mine in the astray for a little while, however, my elbow kept on hitting it. Here is a pic of my FD, which shows the Commander.

I usually keep it in Monitor mode and the only button I rarely hit is the up arrow (or peak). I saw another setup on the forum where the guy mounted his PFC in the lighter hole... If I can find it ill post.

I don't have a pic, but I bought from the good guys a cell phone holder. its the one that is designed to fit in the air vents. instead of using it in the vents I put it in the cigarette lighter. it works real good and is clean. Also hard to see when you look in the window, which is a plus.

Yeah I remember seeing someone on the forum doing something like that... there was also talk of changing the LED color in the unit. I don't know if I would ever open it up though, who knows, I did pull apart my 2 $400 Turntables to install blue LEDS. Then again I wouldn't want something to mess with my engine management then boom.

I've been wanting to do this sorta. I got the idea from someone that took it apart and mounted the peices on the bottom radio DIN slot.

What I want to do is take it apart, mount peices on a Carbon Fibre sheet, then place it where the ashtray goes. I've ran it across a few of the Carbon Fibre making guys bit no interest so far to make one for me.
