Clarion head unit in the FD

I'm confused whether or not the Clarion's ProAudio series head units will fit in the 3rd gen. I'm refering to the DXZ835MP, DXZ735MP, or DXZ635MP. Do any 3rd gen owners have Clarion head units?

Almost all installers say no problem, but Crutchfield says it won't fit. I'm concerned with the depth. The Clarion DXZ735MP, for instance, is 6 1/8" deep. My present unit(Blaupunkt) is 6" deep and it's hangiing out 1/4" beyond the console. So does this mean the Clarion will be sticking out 3/8"?

I would like to find out before I buy the DXZ735MP.
Any help from 3rd gen owners with Clarions or will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

I have the DXZ925, I'm not sure about the exact size of it, but do know that Crutchfield told me it wouldn't fit as well as the Clarion website. It does fit though, I just had to do some creative stuffing of the wires behind the unit. I was also concerned that the dual opening face would drop too low and hit the console, but its just millimeters away from hitting.

Thanks for resonding. The DXZ925( now the DXZ935) is the only head unit Clarion says fits the FD. So I asume the DXZ935/25 is shorter than the 3 models I mentioned.

Do you know off hand how deep your unit is?

If you did what I did and tried their fit guide, it seems to include the 935 first, but if you click on the source unit change button you can select any of the models you mentioned for the rx7. I can check later for the depth of the 925 but I don't know it off hand and can't find it on the clarion site.

Thanks, yes I saw that yesterday. After choosing the car on the Clarion site, the 935, was the lone player that came up. But the soruce unit change button really didn't explain if the "alternates" would fit as well.

So jayk, maybe I'm worrying too much. If I take the 735 down to the installer, they should make it fit as long as the height and width are correct. I guess they can make room for extra depth, correct? I'm just ordering the freakin thing! They'll make it work.

The thing I noticed while I was in there was that the depth is really only limited by a metal brace, there's plenty more space behind it. It seems to me that a clever, knowledgable, and experienced shop would be able to work around it. Thats if there is a problem in the first place.

Thanks Jayk. Yes, all I would need is about 1/4" more. I'm going to find a reputable shop and ask them about fit before I order the Clarion DXZ735MP. If they say it will fit, I'll get in writing, that's all.
Thanks

My mechanic has a Clarion double din in his Fd, he reworked the metal of the dash behind the unit. He used the stock alignment cones on the rear of the unit to suport it , he made a surround part to finish the out side face ,from black plastic. The install look factory .
