CD/MP3 player track limit

CD/MP3 player track limit
can anyone help me out on this... id try to find out for myself, but my car's still in the shop...
my headunit (pioneer) is a cd/mp3 player, but when u put a cd in, if u immediately press the back button, it'll go to the "max" track #, 99. so im pretty sure it wont display a track 100 or greater
but w/ mp3s, you can definetly fit more than 99 tracks on a cd...so my question is, what happens to the tracks after 99? would the cd player still play them? if so, then what would the headunit display? 01 for track 100? 02 for track 101, etc, and onwards?
and if that's the case, wouldn't that throw off the numbering scheme, so the only way to play the "real" track 1 would be to take out the cd and put it back in again?
also, if it can play tracks after 99, can you skip tracks after that point? (ie, go from track 102 to say...track 107?) or do you just have to listen to the entire song to go to the next track?
(this is assuming that after it hits track 99, trying to skip to the next track might reset it to the real track 01...)
anyone know? (hope this made any sense...)

I can't help you with your player... mine shows directory names like if you were browsing on a computer, it doesn't list them by number.
But... it would seem silly that a deck made to play mp3s would have a limit of 99. I think you'll probably be ok.
