if its fading a little, i guess u can try using some polish maybe...
i wouldnt suggest rubbing compound tho. stuff is strong like sandpaper and will eat away at it and prob make it look worse.
try sanding it all down and repaint it. takes a full day, but it can come out awesome!
i did mine in gunmetal:

take it out and use some plastic polish on it. for clear parts you will need an extra fine polish. i use meguiars clear plastic cleaner. use a low speed, stay away from the chrome rings and dont sit in one spot too long or you will melt it.

Haha, my bad. I didn't really read his post very carefully and I came off looking like a dumb ***....
When I saw his post, I was reminded of the forum member who tried to polish his stock intake elbow to shine it up like the other "metal" intake piping.
My apologies....

Get some rouge for plastic, Home Depot sells it. Use a low speed setting on your Dremel with a cloth buffing wheel. Dont try to stay in one area for long because you'll melt/burn the plastic. I had great results polishing a sun shade for my FD.

I use this stuff all the time and it works great. I just spin it on a air powered buffing wheel
