Arrow Can I see some double din radios?

My radio is done for: 1/2 the time i get nothing but a loud obnoxious tone, cd player doesn't work, no sound from back speakers... I know some of you have double din radios installed, could I have look at your guys' setups? I'm looking for a nice match w/ the rest of the car (its at least gotta be black).

I just got an aftermarket double-din radio, and I realized it didn't come with the plastic piece I see around your radios. What is that and where can I get it?? And is there anything else I need to fit the new radio into the old slot? I've got all the cables i need already, i'm sure of it.

mine came with the trim piece, you may be able to get one from one of your local stereo stores install guys as they have tons of these old part laying around from install they didnt need them on. As for the install itself, I just reused the mazda brackets and a generic wire harness and all was good.

Well it turns out its not easy finding a double din trim piece...I checked Circuit City, and a local car audio install shop. I also checked back with Crutchfield, where I ordered the stereo in the first place, and neither of these places even have the Miata double dins. Do you guys know of any websites that have it? or maybe someplace in the santa barbara area?

just did a quick search on google and the generic ones are available all over for about $15.

or here is the pioneer one that came with my system at $30 but this may not fit yours depending on the brand/design.

I would probably just try the generic one. Looks like it should work fine. Good luck with the install.and be carefull removing all the panels as they get scratched up pretty easily if you have a 93.

What setup are you running that allows you to have gauges on the Double DIN head unit? Or is that a background it has?

its part of the unit and is functional. nothing cool like boost or anything but there are a few you can choose from like speed, forward and backward G force, Lateral G force, angular velocity, voltage, slope, compass and I think a clock. bought it for the navi and then found these when I was playing with it. The G force ones are pretty fun when your taking of or cornering hard. It leaves a tick mark at your highest level and then you can try and beat it.

Thanks for the answer -- thats actually pretty cool stuff, but as you said, more for fun... I think the R34 GT-R had a similar sort of g-force thing.

I have a single din JVC with DVD. I was going to upgrade to the new one with NAV (AVX 5000) but decided on double din instead. By going with the logic that Miata radios fit then it may be possible to use it as a guide. Taking in to account the last RX7 was '02 then that would be the safest choice to use.

It's not black, but here's mine. I made the trim ring out of aluminum on a mill and polished it to match the chrome bezels on the cluster. Not to mention the silver carbon fiber wrapped interior plastics. The deck is from Eclipse, #avn-5435. My first radio install, was easy to do.

Here's a Mazda OEM double din that I just installed.
The Miata, Millenia and 626 ones are the same dimensions.

Matches will and is OEM.
Plus you can find different configurations with cd changers etc

Both the touch screen and the OEM Millenia/626 Bose units look very nice and blend well with the FD's interior. Could you suggest a good unit for an FC, one that 'looks the part'? I want to keep my car's retro 80s dawn-of-digital style,. I'm open to all ideas on it.

Who did the carbon work to your interior?

Man that's a nice setup. What size screen usually fits in a fd radio console?
