Can this be done?

I've been reading through the threads and noticed that there's a harness for the stock speaker connectors, so I can easily change head units. So far so good. What I'd like to do is geat rid of the Bose snake and run a punch 400.2 and a JL Audio 10W1 behind a Kenwood Z828, with the stock speakers. I'm not sure what the harness looks like (or where to get it), so is this something that can be done easily..

So I guess my questions are:

1) Is it fairly easy to use the harness for the stock speakers and still run an external amp to a sub?

2) How diffucult would it be to flush mount the Kenwood Z828? Any tips?

How it works is: There are two harneses...1)the aftermarket one you buy to match the mazda one - that just clips on th ethe stock. That one connects to the one that comes with the Kenwood. So you are just plugging in a "bridge" between the two harnesses. That set up runs all the stock speakers. For the amp, you just run RCA cables from the preamp outputs of the Kenwood to the amp.

So if I'm following this straight, there's an aftermarket harness to connect to the stock speaker connectors, and then another harness to connect that one to a Kenwood deck? I figured you need one harness that the stock speaker harness connects to, then connects to the Kenwood..

Gotcha, so I'll still need to splice the head harness to the 3rd party factory adapter harness. Sounds good to me..

Another question I guess.. Should I be using the Punch 400.2 to run the front speakers as well as the sub, or just use the headunit for the fronts and leave the amp for the sub?

i replaced my stock sterio deck in my generation 2 Rx with a 52x4w Sony Xplode Deck, and it fits fine... its sticks out maybe half an inch, but its still looks good.... I through in a Xplode 1000w peak 15 inch sub in the back, with a Xplode 760w amp and left my stock dash and rear speakers as my highs and it sounds AMAZING ! i got good lows and highs ! if you want to replace the stock speakers it wouldn't make anymore of a difference. Your fne with just the sub, and YES the deck will fit !
