Calling BOOSTD 7

I remember you saying that you've done masses of stereo installs on Rx-7's so you're the guy I need to advise me. Anyone else out there with good info, thanks to you too.

I've got a base model '89

I'm going to be taking out the OE stereo (right now it consists of the am/fm unit stacked atop the OE Clarion tape player, they're two distinct units, which leads me to believe that the 1st owner had the tape deck installed by the dealer). Underneath them is a recessed, open storage unit.

The speakers now are:
- the two in the rear shock towers
- the two in the door
- the two underdash

From my understanding the door speakers are powered by separate small amps with a crossover built in so they only produce the lows.

My question is, does the am/fm unit have an amp inside that powers the rears and underdash, or are all the speakers powered by individual amps?

Also, what is the procedure to ensure that the power aerial works after the install. I know of many FC drivers who no longer have their aerial operable. I remember something to do with a ground loop or some cak.

Basically, what's the best way to have the new CD deck drive two coaxials in the door and two coaxials in the rear shock towers? I will not be using the 6 speaker set up, the underdash drivers will be removed. In summary I'll have the deck sending power to two fronts and two rears.

I'm putting in a Panasonic CQ-DF602U with Blaupunkt coax in the doors and towers.

Sorry this was so long, thanks for your help.

I don't know on the 6 speaker systems but on my 87' it had one amp box for the 2 dash speakers, it was on the pass side, and each of the rear had an amp. just rewire the speakers, get rid of the stock amp's.
