Ok, its in (part way) I have to plug up the antenna adapter tomorrow night. She fired right up and every thing works, correct speaker balance left to right etc. CD player works, lighting is way cool too. I can't wait to play with it some more. I have full pictures of the harness I built and I will take some pictures with the unit pulled out so yo can see the harness connections. This was a way cool mod. I don't go for all the new flashy million button, will be shot in three years head units! Keep it simple there's less things to break.

That's showing only one of two harness connectors needed to merry up with the car harness. That is for the bose stereo of course, I would guess the standard radio only needs one plug, but I never saw one so I don't really know.

Ok, the radio is in (all the way) it was a real B@*#ch to seat. Everything works and the install cost about $70.00 dollars. I'll try to post pictures this weekend, but it won't be before Sunday. I'm off to a rotary meet most of tomorrow.

They are the ones you posted above. What other ones do you mean? You can also pick them up at a local audio shop or even walmart, best buy, circuit city, etc... if you don't want to order them from one of the links above but they will run you about $10-15 each.
And be sure to get your antenna adapters.

How about that install guide with pictures?
Also, I would like to use the Miata headunit but not the factor BOSE speakers. I'm adding rear speakers and upgrading the fronts. I heard that if you use a BOSE headunit you need to use the BOSE speakers... Is this true?

I have my install pictures, but I just haven't had time to post anything up. Coming soon. I would have already posted the install, but got pretty pissed when it so long to dremel out a notch in the rear mounting bracket. By the time it was all in I wasn't in the mood to write it up. Anyways it sounds good. I think its down in power though because I wired in the doors, center, and rears all together. I had intended to try it without the center hooked in, but I really feel its need to fill in the highs.

Sorry guys, I haven't been on the forum in a long time. It looks as though everyone got everything figured out, though. Glad to see this write-up helped some people in the same delima I was in.

So how did it turn out? This is very confusing! What head unit did you use sevensheaven? Will only the bose miata unit work? or that plus the mystery millenia unit? or will any bose head unit that fits the space work? For example, will the millenia units with the 6 changer cd work? Are they all wired exactly the same or does each one require different connections? Where do you get the schematics to check the connections? Etc., etc., etc. Please clarify! Thanks.

I have had my unit done for almost 2 years now. While I know some have used the Miata unit, I used the Bose Millenia headunit in mine with the 6cd changer .They are wired exactly the same as the pin-out in the schematic quicksilver posted in the 1st post of this thread. The schematic is 100% correct not sure what you need to check?
There is a picture of mine in this thread here....https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/spirit-r-stereo-715779/

Thank you! Very helpful. I was told just today by Metra electronics that the 6 disc millenia bose changer would not work in the RX7, no way, no how! lol I guess you just debunked that myth. Now I need to find one on ebay!

Hi folks, a couple of questions.
I did the harness mod for the non-bose system (basically connecting 2A, 2B, 2H and 2F to S, U, V, and X.
How do you place connectors in the small holes on the DIN connector? I'm talking about the connections like E, G, H, and J.
I have everything connected per the non-bose diagram except my illumination (1F), the dimmer, (1E) and the amp control (1J) connected to the DIN connector and the radio isn't working. I'm not sure if
a- I have a problem with the radio itself (I pulled it out of a wreck,)
b- if the three wires that I don't currently have connected would cause it not to work, or
c-if there's a VIN lock thing going on.
I'd have thought that with DC and a ground the radio should come on. Does anyone know what the behavior is of a VIN-locked radio, or if my other possibilities above are valid?
Thanks,
Chris
