Yes, I'm using the proper ford tools, trying to pull both out a little at a time, tried the CD player first, these are NOT coming out short of screwing a f#$@ing dent puller in the faceplate and slide hammering them out. I get 1/8" out max, even sticking my fingers in the cassette slot and pulling there at the same time as on the wire tools, any harder and the unit will just break apart . So, how do I get the head unit surround off so I can get access to the side top or bottom? I took off the center console and see the screws for the bottom but don't want to pry the upper part, are there some hidden screws up there or tabs? (if anyone has a photo of that part out of the car that would be great so I can see where the tabs are) Dunno what they were trying to prove when they put those damn things in, just wish they built the rest of the fricken car that well...

the pilot hole for the slide hammer will be drilled with a 9mm heckler and koch, so I hope someone can help soon...

got it. I had to make 2 additional heavy wire hook tools and put them inside the frame of the unit thru the front casette slot, prop the ford tools apart with a spreader and pull crazy hard to get the things out using all 4 tools at the same time, but all is well and nothing broke, surprisingly enough. I pulled the CD out a bit first by hooking the metal edge of that unit from the front in between the ford tool holes with my home made hooks, again using all 4. stoopid how stuck it was...
