Questin On Paint
droped my FD off to get painted & prepped, the owner told me that a single stage BLACK is shinner than a 2 stage BLACK, need advice I thought that a 2 stage with clear would be better but he told me a single stage flat black is better, so what do u guys think is the best for all you experience FD owners thaks oh were using PPG paint also

sounds kinda fishy...like he's trying to pocket alot of the money that ur about to pay him. I just had my fd painted a few months ago, also with PPG. I bought the supplies myself...single stage paint ran me about....$150. then had to return it and got base coat/ clear coat...$800. single stage wont last as long either.

Painters are weird guys, possibly because there is as much art as science involved.
It's certainly conceivable that in his experience, your painter has gotten better results with a single stage paint than anything else, so that's what he'll recommend.
Since most of us will base a recommendation on a very limited data set (how many times has the average person had a car painted?) I'd advise you to talk to several painters and then see how you feel.
I think you'll find that everyone will have a favorite paint brand/technique and excellent results can be achieved from many of them, so just pick the shop you're most comfortable with.
Also, any real paint guy will take care to explain how you should maintain the finish to get the best durability and longevity from his work.
Holding up your end of the bargain is just as important as the condition of the paint as it exits the booth.
