bose audio system
Is it possible to put a new cd player in my car and make it work with bose wave system? I was told by the sales guys at circuit city it was very complex and expensive. I think thats just some bullshit sales pitch. anyway a $200 radio turned out to be something like $800 after install so I didnt do it. thanks for any help.
I'm no audio expert, but that sounds like an utter load of ****.
the only problem I had was that the bose system is 5-speaker, most head units can handle 4.
I'm not an audiophile, so I'm happy running just 4.
If you can find the right head unit, at the right price, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, there is a BOSE interface that you can purchase from Crutchfield (or probably other places). It will allow you to hook up a new/different headunit to the BOSE speaker system.
You'll be replacing both the CD player and Tape/Radio units.

I don't know why people shop at Circuit City. I have never been to a worse store.
All you need to hook up an aftermarket head unit to the Bose system is pre-amp outs and a Scosche wiring harness (a few $$). You can order the harness from Scosche or Crutchfield.
The 5th speaker is a center channel and is derived from the front left and right feeds. The Bose system technically only has three channels, front left, front right, and low frequency info to the rear "subs". The non-Bose system has stereo rear information, so is actually 4 channels.
Search in the Audio forum, you'll find a stickie with everything you need to know.

When i got my car it had an aftermarket cd receiver hooked up to the stock head unit and the CD receiver uses all the speakers fine, but I am going to change it all out soon, not sure how it is hooked up though.
