Angry Body shop horror story...

In January, I flew to San Jose to purchase my second 94 RX7. Not more than 30 minutes after signing the papers, I am driving back to Oregon on a busy freeway and some jerk sideswipes the driver door and rear panel! So...I drive home and get an estimate to fix the damage and the body shop says they will repaint the entire car for $1500 extra. Seems like a great deal so I give them the go ahead. After two weeks, I get the car back and they havent painted the door jambs and you can definitely tell the old paint from the new...so I take it back and they repainted the jambs. So, I picked up the car today, and find it parked on the street and covered with white cherry blossoms I get the car home and the blossoms are literally baked on the dark paint. I finally pressure wash them off, and l can still see where they were in the paint...they have left a very visible blemish in the clear coat How stupid can these people be?

dude, that sucks...take that **** back to them again!! Shoulda got pics though first before you washed it.

As for the door jams and such, most full body paint jobs only cover the exterior unless you specifically include the door jams, trunk jam, and under the hood in the estimate.

maybe the paint wasn't completely baked. some leaves and flower petal shouldn't mess up a paint job otherwise. Did you complain to them before you drove the car off? Sorry to hear this!

First mistake is you didn't come down to Eugene, only 60 miles away and look at my 94 for sale.

Anyway I'm not to far away, nice to see another rotorhead in the state!

wow, that paint must have still been wet then. You should always give the pain lots of time to set-up and cure properly or it won't turn out corectly. What kind of a shop did you take the car to? I'll bet they'll repair it.

Relax, it's okay. Take it back and tell them to buff it out. As long as the cherry blossems didn't eat all the way down to the paint, it can be sanded and buffed out. If it's deep into the paint, there's no solution but to repaint it. It's bodyshop's fault for leaving it out there. I have a bodyshop too and I would never make that mistake.

We had a unknown paint shop repaint out 73 super beetle and had to take it back to them 2 different times. First time they didnt paint the door jams after he had that put into the estimate and final price, or under the hood, second time when we got it back the was a huge gash/dent into the door, which they tried to blame on us but we had pictures and proof it was from them, so they fixed it. Overall the did a shitty job and got paint on the leather interior, the paint is bubbling. The overall quality was just ****. For 900 dollars I would expect something better than the **** they did.

well check this out ,my family owns a huge shop and most shops down here would stand behind it.it probably was baked and then when it set out in the sun it heated up again so when the stuff landed on it there was just enough weigh there to scare it .yea they should have left it the shade for a while but some shops are pushed for space .just make sure they put a base coat clear coat and not a single stage .the bc\cc will buff better .just be cool about it and they will help ya .u can attract more flys with honey !
