Best sound system set up

Well currently i have a JL system all the way around except for the alpine head unit in my FB. I have one 12w6v2 sub with a 6channel 1,000wt jl amp and the jl xr compents with 2 extra tweets upfront. Anyways, system sounds great, i love it very clean plenty of power and response good range, i dont even have to mess with my stereo settings going from a rap or techno song to a hard rock or classical song. Well i'm getting a new daily driver a 2005 or 06 GMC Sierra 2500HD. Its going to end up being a custom install, but so far the only thing i'm set on getting are the 13w6v2's two of them. I dont really know which amp to get cause i want to run a constant 700 or 800 watts to the both of them cause from what i've read on heard from others who on this, that the full potential of those subs comes alive at that power range. Now as far as compent speakers go, i'm thinking about going with boston acustics this time around instead of the JL's cause i've heard that there just that hair better. Can anyone offer any input on this? Last thing is the indash unit. I was really dissapointed with the alpine i bought for the price. its a alpine CDA-9856, i got it only cause it selling point was the connection to the ipod. Which was the biggest dissapointment about it besides the display. I've got a full 60gb that i have connected and its a pain in the ******* *** to get to the music you want. So i'm looking for a different indash for sure! So to recap, amp, JL or boston compenents, and great indash with ipod interface in mind.

kind of hard to go with out a budget, i could recommend a 10k rainbow platinum component setup if you want the best sound system. Personally I dont like the Bostons, at all. I am about to pick up two sets up polks SR comps, they retail at 900 a set, can be had for around 450. They sound good on a sound board but really sound amazing once they are broken in and installed in a car, cant beat those comps for the money, period. I have never been a big fan of jl's, think they are over priced but the w6's are nice subs. The newer alpine h/u's have let alot of people down. Personally im going to go with the alpine iva-w200 which is a double din with the full ipod access and its a lot better to control that way than a normal in-dash unit. Amps are hard to recommend without a budget, personally i just picked up a sinfoni amp that retails at 3k, but was fortunate enough to get for $800. Just give me some sort of a budget to work with and we can go from their

Totaly agree! Everyone has there favorite stuff. Purerx7 always talks about this super high end stuff no one buys, I'm an Alpine fan all around, well thats until I just picked up a pair of Elemental Designs components. These things are awesome for the price. My next upgrade will be in the subwoofer end, my type R is getting old on me so I might get a real nice XXX sub for it.

I would go with the boston or focals for componats. I have a pair of focal V2s in my FD and they sound awsome. Deff would do the JL amp for the new sub set up.

no kiddin...
i think i've had speaker systems from Rockford, Kicker, JL, Sony, Boston, JBL, Alpine, Focal, A/D/S/, Dynaudio, Morel, MTX, Soundstream, Phoenix Gold, Diamond, etc... I think all of them had their own strengths and weaknesses. you really need to hear them all yourself and decide what sounds best to you.

currently, i run JL XRs and subs in my dime off a Phoenix Gold amp, and Alpine coaxs and Rockford subs and amp in my REPU. i'm happy w/ both of them!
